Hello next week i am going to upgrade my pc

Amd phenom ii x4 965
GB GA-770ta-ud3
Corsair vengeance ddr3 1600
Psu Corsair 750W
Gtx 970 msi

I have decided to go with i5 6600k and Asus z170-a
I will use my rig 90% for gaming and a little photoshop.
I am planning to upgrade only cpu mb rams and maybe an m2 ssd.
The rams:
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000Mhz CL15 or
Patriot Viper Elite Series DDR4 3000 Mhz 16 GB (2 x 8 GB)
but in the memory support list of the mb these rams are not supported so i am afraid that the rams will not work on 3000mhz.Can you please suggest me rams around 100E that should work on
asus z170-a or these rams are ok?

I also use corsair vengeance lpx (4x4GB then) on my Skylake system, this memory was in the QVL list of the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming so thats why I went with these.
Works fine, running at 3000MHz XMP.

from what I've seen on my rog hero alpha. the 1.35 v 8gb sticks only works with 2 sticks.. so as long as you're not planning on going to 32gb you should be fine with the corsair 3000.
if you plan on going to 32gigs in the future. step down to the 2800 ram CMK16GX4M2A2800C16.. ( the 4x8 package is on the certified list. the 2x8 isn't probably due to lack of time to test every memory combo out there)

the 4 sticks of the 1.35v ram my hero throws post errors about not enough power for the ram. posts just fine with 4 sticks of 1.2.

I have changed my mind for the mb.Maybe the best choice for gaming and OC around 150e budget is the asus z170 pro gaming.I hope i am making the right decision.

You also have the Asrock Z170 Extrem 4 which is a solid board and excellent overclock brand.

You'll be OK with these rams. Take a look at G.Skill Ripjaws V rams which are superior to Corsair Vengeance due to better Samsung memory modules vs Micron's.

Yes i have seen them but many say that xmp doesn't work for 3200 or 3000mhz series and you must manual set the timings.

It works with little VCCSA and VCCIO voltages adjustment - nothing to do with timings or RAM voltage. I'm not 100% sure if it's the same with other motherboards, but that was the case with my MSI Z170A Krait Gaming 3X.

I feel like the G.Skill Ripjaws V 3200 is the best choice because they have better timings faster clock and are 10€ cheaper than Corsair.I hope they fit to the z170-a.I have decided the z170-a compared to asus pro gaming cause the 7 fan headers m.2 raid function and also 10€ cheaper.

Great cooler, also the paste provided with it its pretty decent, no need to buy another, but if you are decided to use a better one stick with Arctic Cooling MX4,
do you already use SSD?
what case do you have?

again ... fill this

I have filled the specs.I am going to buy also an m.2 sm951 nvme because my current ssd is only 64GB.
I am worrying about the gskill G.Skill Ripjaws V 3200 because maybe these arent compatible with the asus z170-a.

I think that 320€ are too much for a mb especially when the cpu costs 240€.
great point, have you checked MSi or AsRock options? they also have several great priced motherboards,

I am reading for days reviews and in this price point (150€) for gaming and OC the best choices are Asus Z170-A and Pro Gaming which are almost the same.
