If your system works for what you want, just leave it as it is until you have more money.

If you were to upgrade, I'd say the GPU is the first thing you should do.

What games are you playing and what resolution are you running? If you could fill out your system specs, that'd be great.

Why are you upgrading, what are you hoping to achieve with the upgrade? As is it's a pretty good system and should handle Call of Duty at 1080p.

My game had been crashing while playing call of duty. I would be in the middle of a game and It would kick me out and say there was a problem with "DirectX." It may have been something a lot of people were experiencing though. I am also looking to add a 144hz monitor and run dual monitors. I didn't know if this would affect my gaming experience or not. I've also been thinking of recording some of my games and other random things on my GoPro and new camera and then editing them on my PC. Wasn't sure if It would handle this as well. Overall I was just curious on areas my PC could be improved if I do end up trying to upgrade it at some point.

1. It sounds like your crasing issue is software related not hardware. I would check with message boards dedicated to that game.

2. I'm not sure what version of CoD you have but here is PCgamer's hardware review of modern warfare and your specs can easily handle the latest version for 60FPS gaming, even give you good results in a high refresh 1080p monitor without DXR (see linked review). With DXR and a high refresh monitor you would need a GPU upgrade (RTX 2060 super or better)

The Warzone crashes have been common for a while now, it's certainly not related to some lack of hardware thereof. If you intend on rocking RTX there, I'd most certainly suggest waiting for Ampere. Might as well update the CPU to a 4th gen Ryzen while at it. Maybe make 2 PCs then.

The issue you have been facing while playing COD is most probably due to some sort of software issues. But if you really are into upgrading then you can start with processor and mobo....and then graphics card respectively....Good luck for your upgrade !!!

Firstly, welcome to TPU, I gotta say your specs are perfectly fine, like the others have said, it's definitely a software issue, I'd recommend solving that software issue first before spending your precious Denari on hardware that's really not needed immediately especially when new hardware will be launching later on this year, best to wait until then & keep what you have cause it's perfectly fine. You mentioned getting a 144Htz monitor for high refresh rate gaming, a decent G-sync 1080p 144htz panel would go well with your current GPU. IMO I'd say keep what you have & wait for Nvidia's RTX 3000 series to launch, there's also AMD's Ryzen 4000 series launching later this year also but TBH your Z390 platform is perfectly fine, grab a 9900K or non K down the line, 8 cores 16 threads will last you for many years to come. :toast: hope this helps.

That iTX Motherboard must look so small in that case, and it will limit what Processor you can upgrade to.
A higher clocked CPU such as an i5 9600K or KF would have been ideal, leaving only the GPU to upgrade, but it is what it is.

Upgrade to a better, larger, 120hz display. Replace the 1660ti with a 3070 when it's released.
You could also replace the 9400f with a 9700, but that's less important.

Oh It looks tiny lol. There's so much space left in my case.

As a general rule, you don't need an upgrade if you're not even sure what parts need upgrading.

Make good life choices and save the money. You're already killing it with the current system specs and you've got other more serious expenses to deal with as a student.
