Upgrade Soon?

Recently I upgraded to a 120/144Hz ASUS 1920x1080 1ms response time monitor and now I have 2 24'' monitors, I keep one for gaming and the other for secondary apps, movies, etc. My question is should I upgrade anything right now, I was going to buy a PS4 and I decided against it with all the games that are coming out for the PC I want to play.

Your cpu isn`t bottleneck without SLI, anyway you can add another 690 and find some 1000-1200w psu for that, but yours 850w can be enough if not benching.

My CPU is def bottlenecked if anything by my CPU, I have run a bunch of gaming tests and my CPU is def the downfall of my rig at the moment even overclocked dude, you really think I should add another 690? I could probably get one for cheap, would it be worth the $500ish over getting like a 790?

I really see nothing wrong with your system as it is, or your CPU. Add another 690 as suggested or leave it as-is. No sense in really replacing anything unless it fails imho. That's a nice build that's plenty powerful for gaming.

Edit: If you feel strongly enough about your GPU being a bottleneck, sell it and get a 3770k. You could spend some $$$ and go Haswell like my setup, but I don't think you'd gain enough from it to make it worth your money honestly.

Two options that I have come up with at this point.

1. Grab another GTX 690 and SLi for now

2. Wait and grab the new GTX 790 and sell my current 690 for some of the money back.

Or if you're performing fine now, leave it alone. I can't imagine that system getting bogged down by any game at this point. You COULD add a 2nd card or a 790...but do you NEED to? Or is this a case of upgrade-itis? I understand all aspects of upgrade situations...but I can't really say you NEED to upgrade anything atm. If it's gaming smooth, and ain't broke, don't fix it! But if I had to add a 2nd card or replace that card I'd go single graphics card all day long. Though I prefer single gpu setups as well so I'd say 780ti which your 690 probably passes or matches in many aspects...

I wanna be more efficient and future-proof, I like staying-SEMI current with tech and I like having the best gaming gpu out there honestly, I was going to get a Playstation 4 and decided against it. Yeah the 690 surpasses the 780ti in pretty much all gaming tests dude. I should just wait for the gtx790 I think?

You have plenty current hardware that's more than capable of keeping up with some of the best today..but if you have that kinda cash burning a hole in your pocket and can't settle for having less than the best, then dammit go get what you want and enjoy!

The only way your cpu is bottlenecking in the games: viruses and malware. You can wait gtx 790 because if you add another 690 and new psu, your cpu will bottlenecking, and you would spend a lot for s2011 i7 4960k or 4930k (12 core cpu) with 2x pcie x16 slots.

Yeah I think I'll wait for the gtx790, I won't need to upgrade my psu for a 790 and two 690s isn't the best idea I'd say.

OK, I understand that you've not posted a lot. As such, I'd like to offer a friendly reminder that double and triple postings are generally frowned upon. If you need to add something, there's an edit button that can be utilized to amend posts (assuming that nobody else has answered).

Next, there is no reason at all to upgrade. At most, you could get either an R9-290 series card (recommended because of the as yet unproven Mantle API) or a Titan. Neither of which will be an exceptional improvement over the 690. The possibility of SLI with another 690 is interesting, but you aren't really looking at gaming performance there. A second 690 would almost purely be e-peen, so it wouldn't be worth the investment.

Upgrading the CPU is a joke. The amount of games out there that actually push a 3570k is miniscule, and none of them do it because they are actually taking full advantage of it (read: poor coding). Again, this is a case of e-peen envy. Heck, the 2600k is still a mighty fine option if you're looking to build a gaming centered system. There are even people who still run a heavily overclocked Core2quad in dedicated gaming rigs. You aren't looking at substantial gains here, and the pricing for those gains is high.

My only recommendation is to ditch the H100i. From personal experience, it is great for beginners. The setup is easy, it fits in most cases, and the monitoring software is...I'd call it decent enough... The problem I had with is was that once I got decent airflow in my case, it just barely edged out the performance of an air cooler. If you'd like to bump that OC higher, or decrease CPU temps to extend life, then build a custom water loop. You'd be surprised what a more substantial pump, thicker tubing, and a beefy radiator can do to the CPU temperatures (and you'd get to ditch those dog-awful white and black abominations that come with the Corsair AIO coolers. Between the whine and mediocre performance they never got installed with my AIO solutions). On top of the obvious effects, you'll be able to reuse the loop if you ever upgrade the system. A $50-$70 block isn't as unreasonable as having to buy a new cooler because brackets changed.

Truth be told don't see anything you should update soon. Your setup should run all with no problem and as others suggested you better wait and see how the GTX 790 will be. Each generation of card is more power efficient so you'll probably wont have to change even the psu. Don't buy a PS4 start saving for the GPU or put it away for rainy days.

A real upgrade would be a higher resolution monitor to use all those wasted fps. No point in upgrading if your GPU can max out all games at 100+ fps, 1920x1080 is old gen.

I agree. This is good advice.

No point the OP upgrading, his rig can handle any game. He would need to up his resolution to take advantage.

You can't have 144 fps all the time man , with his system he will get more than 60 fps in any game you want in high settings, tell him to get another 690 and he will get many more frames the thing is that the lowest frames are those that make the difference when gaming if he buys another 690 the difference in lowest fps would be minimal
I don't recommend buying another 690 because he will still have a drop on fps sometimes it happens. Theoretically now with one 690 he has frames in a X game from 84 to 180 with an average of 150 and with SLI 690 he will have 78 to 200 with average 180. You will not feel the difference from 90 to 110 fps much but you feel the difference between 40 to 70 much. Making the much frames more and keeping the low low wont make you any good! If i were you i would not buy another 690 that is so expensive for minor improvements that i will not notice. I hope that helps.
