Hi there, this is my first post but I've been following the site pretty close for a couple of months now, since I built my rig...

I got my first job payment and I want to spend ~ half on my pc, let's say 350-400€, so I want some tips and answers to a couple of questions, thanks for your help!

I've been thinking about buying this:
- Crossover 27q
- Benq xl2420t + nvidia 3d vision 2 glasses
- 8 gb more ram maybe with better Ocability or the same as I have + ssd.
- Gaming keyboard and mouse + ssd (vertex 4 256gb) to make my new os ssd.
- Motherboard with SLI support and another gtx 670
- Liquid cool my gtx 670 with artic cooling hybrid
- phanteks cpu cooler and a couple fans, or maybe the new hidro 100i (reviews anyone?)
- Sell my i53570k and get a 2011 platform

Any questions you need to ask I'll be sure to answer fast. My system specs are all filled out... What would your choice be, given the budget limit?

We're about the same level of performance from our computers. Upgrades within the tower it's self will yeild minimal gains and be overly expensive. My suggestion is the 2560*1440 monitor,or you could go multi-monitor and buy 2 more of the same monitor you already have. I loved my 305t before it started having thermal problems so much that I'm getting it fixed(btw, that reminds me, I need to call the repair shop tuesday about that), and trying to get up the money to buy another 2560*1600 monitor.

Thanks, now if you could please dedicate the same amount of energy to actually helping out within my budget...

If you want my real advice, I would tell you this:

You just are getting your first job payment. I know you want to upgrade your PC. But, it would be wiser to be more stewardly with your money, at least until you can ensure your job security. Never count your chickens before they hatch.

Save $1,000 to $1500 or up to 3 months rent, and have that much still in the bank and after that, you can upgrade your PC.

Even better reason to do this: It should only take you about 4 months or so to save up that much money. the next month is month 6, and now the new hardware has come out, and you can buy the same stuff you were going to buy 6 months before, for 20 to 50% less cost.

In addition, you will have built self-discipline which is invaluable.

Just get 10 of those, so $5 million will get you 9999TB!!!

I think he seriously is looking to upgrade so I don't find this very funny. In fact it's kind of insulting. :shadedshu

can we stick to the topic? Don't require any life lessons. You presume too much when you know so little.

Then thanks you for your advice, but I am sticking to my plans. :toast:
Would just like some more feedback on the options and realize how outdated (or not) my monitor is :banghead:

Exactly! How do we know the OP isn't some 20 year old boy-toy of some hot rich 40 or so year old widow and only has a job so he can buy something and be able to say "This is 100% MINE", or in some simular situation.

BTW, Caspase, in case you missed it, I did offer serious advise.

Can't see why you would want to move away from 1155, unless you are using your computer for specific tasks like video editing the performance difference is not going to be big enough to make a difference. I would suggest sticking to 1155 and get another 670 if you really want to upgrade, or a higher res screen.

Fully agree with sticking to socket 1155. A 2nd GTX670 at the OPs current resolution would be extreme overkill. That's why I suggested higher resolution monitor(like Fourstaff mentioned) or multi-monitor.

And the grand question: I have a 670 and 1200 screen, if I upgrade the 670 its overkill for 1200, if I upgrade the screen 670 is too weak and I can't afford both. Enjoy mindfuck :toast:

For the OP I would really look into one of those 2560X1440 27" monitors...

For you a second 670 and get a bet monitor later on.
