Currently, I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, I was wondering what is a somewhat affordable next level up? I want to go up, but don't want to pay crazy prices. It needs to fit my Dell XPS computer. Any thoughts. I am not a heavy gamer, all I have played is Fallout 4 and Skyrim, I might get into more intense games, so I want graphics that can handle it. I just started playing games after a couple of decades away. I am up for any brand, I know nothing.

I have an INtel i&-9700 CPU @3.00ghx. I know I am going to have to update the power supply.

Can't answer with the info provided.
What is the exact model of your Dell XPS?
If you have the 500W PSU which comes with 2x6PIN, you may be fine with your current one.
What is your budget?

Info needed.

1) PC model from Dell website. Or a photo of the case if you can't find it to see the approximate dimesions.
2) Power Supply details. Maybe the photo of sticker that's on PSU and/or cables available.
3) Most importantly, BUDGET!!!

Is your system the Dell 8930 XPS ?
If it is it should have a 450w PSU.
So I would recommend a 1660 super or a GTX 1070, but you may need additional power plugs.
With the info you provided we can only guess what you have and recommend accordingly.

i7-9700 -> Sufficient for gaming (I still stick with a 5-6-year-old i7-4790k and for 1080p it is ok)

RAM Configuration -> please tell, prebuilds tend to have 2133MHz DDR4 single channel (a horrible experience). Also, 16G for gaming is recommended (especially heavy modded skyrim, I know what I am talking about ;) )

Graphics Card -> Will be the most expansive thing, what is your budget and what are you willing to achieve (1080p/1440p etc.)

PSU -> depends on graphics card. Cheap PSUs are obviously cheap but deliver jittering power. This often leads to coil whine and is usually not good for all PC components either. Either buy a heavy cheap PSU (e.g. 750W) or buy a small good PSU. EVGA is known for good PSUs. (Very cheap PSUs also tend to burn. Sometimes...)

Also if you play creation engine games (Fallout 4, Skyrim, older bethesda games too) you should tweak your ini files to tell the game that you have 8 cores on your CPU. This and some little stuff usually gives a noticeable performance uplift. But having new components results in a bigger difference.
