Hi,
I'm looking to upgrade my video card to either a 1080Ti or the new 1180Ti when it comes out. Will everything in my system specs be ok to run with either card or might there be a problem? There might be a 4K monitor in the mix to.
Thanks

It would be fine. I'm running a similar setup to yours with a 1080Ti.

something is amiss here I don't believe socket 1150 was a DDR3 socket.

just get a 1080ti right when the 1180 comes out or 1180 TI

Some can support ddr3 but it can damage the controller due to voltage.

Only change Id recommend is for the card itself ... If buying an AIB card, might as well get one with an upgraded PCB. Since the 5xx series EVGA has almost always used the reference PCB.... not to mention, both the 9xx and 10xx series had thermal issues outta the gate. (cooling issues were addressed in later revisions, but PCB didn't change.)

Nvmd, apparently Devils Canyon supported DDR3 and it was The 2011-3 that used ddr4.

And nevermind on me because I got 1150 and 1151 mixed up. I swear I know stuff about my chip.

Thanks for the replies. I'll wait for the new 1180 cards to come out. Any suggestions on a 4K monitor 27" or do I really need one? The rig is just for gaming.

You really dont need 4K. 2K, 1440p, 1080p are still viable options for gaming, plus response times and refresh rates are better on 2K or lower.

I got a 1440p now with G-Sync. Maybe I will stay with that for now. Thanks for the info.
