Upgraded!!!!! YAY!

Well, my ASrock mobo was being a turd and not letting my overclock very far, so I started looking for an upgrade. Low and behold, in the paper Fry's was having a combo deal, so I have myself an Athlon 64 3800+ and an ECS KN1 Extreme. Just got the drivers loaded and I am fixing to run some benchies. I will post back later with the goods.

Protius, yes I had the SATA2. PVT, yup we had the same deal and you know the price, so now you know why I got it. I got it at the Northwest Highway frys, probably the same one you go to, if you go to Frys that is.

Yeah, it was stock. I will be playing around with some overclocking, see what happens. Sucker rus cool, so I have some headroom.

good luck with ecs, i never had any ocing luck with them. the first thing that usually blows is the crap caps they use.

you should be ok with that ecs board, if i remember correctly lesser caps were only used in support roles on the board, so will never be under much strain, where the important parts got rubycon, again if im remembering correctly.

I learned something about Nforce chipsets. DO NOT USE THE MOTHER FUCKING NTUNE. Piece of shit ran my PCI-E bus WAYYYYY up, every 3d app was locking up on me. Finally got everything fixed.

I like my ECS board it wont run but 8x pci-e but my numbers are ok for a 7950 gt

the 7950 have issues with some boards, not uncommon to rever to 8x, you could go all the way to 4x and not have a perf drop, agp4x was never fully used, 8x wasnt even close to fully used, and pci-e 16x is once again not even close to being used fully.

ntune and NAM are crap, if you really want to use software overclocking try clockgen it tends to work fine as long as you get the proper version for your board/chipset
