Upgrading a few features for my buddys dell.

Hey all,

My friend has a lga 775 platform dell....It runs way to hot, and needs help.

I need a lga 775 cooler
A motherboard (hes not over clocking)
And about 3 (80mm) case fans.

Budget: 160$

He does not want to OC at all, Im selling him my cheap case, I need an atx lga 775 platform mobo, cpu cooler (easy to install remember he is not overclocking at all) and some 80mm fans.

Please provide links?

hey, the x300 isn't THAT bad. i got a 73% mem o/c, 30% core o/c on it.

then it blew up.

i like zalman coolers, i'm pretty sure some of theirs works on lga775

Nice overclock! so it runs at the pace of a slug now rather than a snail??

If you want a good cooler and not pay too much, as you are not overclocking, the Thermaltake "Jungle" is a good quality LGA775 cooler for $24.99, you can find it here with reviews:

It's out of stock at Newegg but you will find it most anywhere, just posted that for the spec/reviews.

Ohhh and it's easy to install also! I had one, no screws and it never let me down.

This is an incredible cooler. I have it on my overclocked 520J running at 3.5hgz and it idles at 39-41c and under load it is never over 54c.

i have about a dozen assorted dell windows disks, xp and xp pro, and to the best of my knowledge, they are linked to the motherboard. That's how it was in the past, but I don't know about today (2 years ago was my last experience with dell and os issues)

just for the record, i was able to install a copy of xp that came with my compaq laptop on my custom pc. didn't die or anything.

don't know about dell though.

As long as you use the OEM CDKey that came with the Dell disk to begin with, you should be fine. AFAIK, it's only the CD Key that's tied to the installation disk type... I tried installing a retail XP disk with an unused Dell key once and it would not accept it.

Well I think im gonna order it today, I have a windows xp cd myself just incase anything bad happens.

Intel pentuim d 630

That look good for upgrading a dell motherboard, stock cpu cooler? Thanks, if you all say it looks like it will work with those 3 new parts with the specs as they are, I will be ordering it all!

The link on the MB is no good anymore.

If it was that abit 915 chipset, I wouldn't buy it. You can do much better than that.

Personally I wouldn't buy an intel chipset. I've been throuh a 915 and a 945 and both were crap. I will only buy nforce for intel chipsets now.
