Hey Guys, I was wondering if I can squeeze more out of my old system. I built many years ago.... Have some specs of it below, I know it'll be used parts for sure, but it'd be nice to keep her running for a few more years...

Greatly appreciate anyones' time in looking at my post, thanks! :)

Mobo: N2pap-lite

well if you want to upgrade... the only thing u can upgrade on the N2PAP-Lite, the amd sempron has a slightly higher clock but its not a huge performance boost.

best thing u can do is clear out the entire case, then just buy a low budget system with i3 or if your amd like a turion 64 x2 tl-60 or somthing like that!

Nope, you would actually save money by finding a used i3 / AMD fusion system board and switching to it. It will use a lot less power and its 10 time as fast

A better AGP card would help you on that one. Even if you cant play lot of games it could make a good computer to store lot of movies and watch them. An AGP card with HDMI plug on it would make it work well.

Also since it's not having the sata ports you could get a PCI card with internal sata conenctors so you can put a faster more efficient Sata drive.

Other than that the overclocking maybe you can play with it and had a more performing cpu cooler if the noise is not a problem for you :)

This cpu would have a 400 mhz front side bus compared to your 333 mhz you have now.
15$ on E-bay http://www.ebay.ca/itm/AMD-Athlon-XP-3000-socket-462-CPU-AXDA3000DKV4E-2-17-GHz-Barton-400-MHz-FSB-/281056840779?pt=CPUs&hash=item41704b0c4b

Then replace your memory that has 333mhz because the 400mhz memory only goes at 333mhz right now.

I sell refurbished PCs like yours for $50-75, and much faster P4 3.0 to 3.4 systems for $100 to 150, and even the fast ones are only good for web browsing, music, and watching DVD-quality video. Nothing that old is worth upgrading, the money is much better spent on a budget late model system such as i3 or A8. For 3 or 4 hundred you can build a system at least 10 times faster than your present system. Look around at NewEgg and TigerDirect, you can find great deals on last years hardware and "bare-bones" systems.

Thanks guys, I am looking to add a newer system to run the newer version of Illustrator. My biggest reason of squeezing out more from the old one, was connections to old machinery (9pin scsi) and software not compatible with Windows 8.

You can always do like many guys here. Roam the dumpsters to find older computers for free parts.

Unfortunately like others have said, this system has met father time and you would benifit from a new build.

If you live in the states, you could check newegg and build an ivy bridge celeron combo for cheap or probably a cheap AMD APU for under 300$
