Here's the story, I had a Asus Dark Knight 4870 1gb. Apparently that decided to go supernova on me yesterday and now I have a nice Asus paperweight.

I am now looking for a brand new card. I had my eye on the 5770 for quite sometime, but I am reconsidering to buy a 5850 because I will have the money when I sell my old stuff to my friend.

So what do you guys think? 5770 or 5850?

I've found that when I picked the slower of two graphics cards, I've always regretted it. I would recommend spending extra on the faster card. It may feel like a waste/excessive, but in 12-18 months from now, it'll have that little extra ooomph and be that much more valuable.

yup, 5850 for sure, no doubt about it, and it wants you to play with it, push it to the limits

If you've got the loot, go 5850.

I really like my 5770. If you got the cash to spend, get the 5850. You'll be better off in the long run. :toast:

Yeps the 5770 for now is a good bargain, but once the *real* dx11 games hit the deck/if they ever do btw, well it sure will be a lil bogged down (seems to be the case with metro2033), so I'd rather go for a faster card. So basically, like everyone else has said, a 5850.
