I want to upgrade my 'old school' system (see system specs) to something similar but in todays standards. I have a good case (Thermaltake XaserII) .. actually love the case. Anywho.... I will be running windows vista ultimate, 22" SOYO Monitor.. Looking for something to put me into todays PC world. I haven't really studied much of the new stuff and or which is better. I use my pc for the internet, email, alot of music, video's, and 'RAW' picture editing (very large images) from my Nikon D50 SLR. I don't want any lag, crappy sound, jumping DVD's or video's. Also this computer will most likely be in my bedroom and will be using it to watch DVD's ALOT more. (moving here shortly). So any help would be GREAT. Post away.. help me out, lets see if we can keep it under $1000.00 ...... as I can buy a PC around $700.00 that is pretty high end but of course limits me from doing a whole lot (won't mention any companies).

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

yeah... i'd like to stick with intel. Been an Intel guy for awhile now, never really got into the AMD setup.

Gaming at all? Feel free to replace the GPU w/ anything else if your not. Theres 3 Microcenters in Ohio so it would be wiser to purchase the i7 920 from there for $229

I've heard bad things about the P6t. Get the deluxe one (something like that). Heard it's awesome in comparison.
