Upgrading from q9450 taking some suggestions..

I just recently was able to acquire money for a system upgrade, and I was trying to figure out whether I should go with a intel or amd setup. Across from 5820k or 4790k or save money and build on a fx 9590. Microcenter and frys have good deals on all of them the frys mobo and cpu 5820k and msi x99s comes with 8gbs of patriot ddr4 ram. I have a haf x so all I would need is a cooler, but I don't know.

Without knowing what applications the system is for or your budget its impossible to help you.

So long as you don't use highly threaded things, I would go 4790k based.

Mostly I use it for gaming and sometimes video encoding maybe I might stream in the future but my budget is about 1k. With my way q9450 I'm noticing some latency problems in win 8.1 and terrible frames per second in games I mean the system is 6 years old so it's time to move on

99X with 4960X should last 5years + with no performance issues.

i think the 4790k + a good Z97 board is a pretty safe bet,
you can always overclock it if you find the performance is a bit lacking.
but the 4790k is very fast on its own

even if its a deal,
a 4790k + good Z97 board + 8GB RAM + PSU will be slightly cheaper than the 5820k while giving around the same single threaded performance,
the advantage of the 5820k is the bigger PCIe lanes and quad channel memory, and 2 more cores i suppose.

but if youre set on the 5820k, it should last a few years down the line. and its a pretty good deal

Well I went with the 4790k and msi gaming 7 with 16gb of patriot viperx and h100i cooler hoping i can get 4.5ghz stable for the next 6 years lol thanks for all your help guys

the 4790k will hit 4.5GHz no problem

and it will last you at least 4-5 years.

my old 2630QM which is 3 years old still pack a punch even in the realms of haswell and broadwell
