Hey people, i would like to upgrade my pc, in particular the video card, as i cant really run newer games. I have little knowlegde what would be compatible with the other parts, and if the cpu will bottleneck, it might need an upgrade too..

Pc as it is now:
CPU
AMD FX-4100 3.60 GHz
GPU
Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 OC 1024 MB
MB
Asus M5A78L
PCU
Gembird CCC-PSU7X 600 Watt
RAM
Corsair Vengeance 8 GB, PC3-12800, 1600 MHz, 9, Non-ECC, Kit Of 2
Storage
Kingston SSDNow V300 480 GB, i also have a 1tb hdd laying around somewhere, not connected.
Case
AeroCool X-Warrior Black Edition

Suggestions are welcome, i built this pc around 3.5 years ago and as you can see it is really outdated

Thanks!

Budget is around 400, but if it makes a good impact, im willing to spend more.
Overall goal is just smoother gaming, i get fps drops regularly now which are really annoying, and games like gtaV i dont even have to try on this thing :D
I play at 1920x1080 at the moment.

400 USD?

One option is a new FX CPU, GPU and PSU. A better option is probably to get something Skylake, but then you would have to do with a Pentium instead of an i3, or get the upcoming RX 470/460. i3 + RX480/1060 would be about $470, but it would rock your world at 1080p.

$25 PSU for the win! :D

I'd get a new PSU. Good ones don't cost that much.

But again, it depends on what exactly you want. The cheapest upgrade is to get an FX6300/FX8xxx, a GPU and a PSU. €400 might be enough. If you want an entirely new system you need a CPU, motherboard and RAM as welll.

The cheapest route is probably to get a used LGA1155 system, at least motherboard and CPU. Sandy Bridge i5s usually can be had from €50 or so. There mighr even be new motherboards you can buy. That way you can reuse the RAM.
