Upgrading my pc

Hello!

I am planning on upgrading my pc because its getting old
I have been looking at some parts but am unsure about if the parts are compatible to eachother.

So currently I am looking at either getting the ryzen 2600x processor or the more newer 3200g, since its cheaper for me. Not sure how they work differently though.

I also want to change out my old motherboard to a newer model. The asus rog stix b450-f gaming, is on sale right now and the reviews on it have been mostly positive. So i am thinking about getting this.

For ram i think its mostly the same but i found corsair vengeance lpx ddr4 3200mhz 2x8gb bricks for a decent price

For the graphics card i have a 1070 superclocked black ed from evga ready to use.

The powersupply i have right now is a cx500 but i am planning on upgrading this aswell to a 750 or something else if 750 is overkill, but i thought that then i atleast have nothing to worry about.

If there is someone that could help me out with the parts and what is good and not, or if there is something cheaper and better alternatives to the ones i listed above. thank you!

One is 4 core / 4 thread CPU based on 12nm design, other is 6 core 12 thread based on a new 7 nm tech.

We need more information from you to properly suggest some builds. What do you use the computer for? Do you OC? What is your budget? What is your current system consist of (it would be better if you listed your system specs in your forum profile and made them view-able)? Where are you planning on buying your parts from?

You can save a build summary, then swap things around to see what differences it makes....

The 3200 is not better than the 2600, as the 3200G is based on the same technology when it comes to the CPU, but it's paired with a built in GPU as well.
The 2600 has six cores, the 3200G has only four.
Unless you're planning on using the built in graphics, the 2600 is the superior choice, or if you can afford it, the 3600 would be a smarter choice, as the new memory controller in the "real" 3000-series processors appear to be less picky when it comes to RAM.

So i am now thinking about the 2600 or 2600x... since the 3200g comes with integrated graphics when im planning on using the 1070 i have here. What you think about the 2600 for basic gaming? Im not really that good with overclocking so im not sure im gonna overclock that much..
I went on pcpartpicker and the parts i picked had good compatibility. my budget is around the pricing of the parts i mentioned i guess.
Should i go for the 2600x or the 2600? I am a regular gamer, almost always put the video settings on low for them frames. but since im upgrading now, hopefully i can run some more recent games on HD.

3200g is a niche CPU that only makes sense when you don't have a video card

2600x makes sense if you have zero desire to OC but still want to squeeze out all CPU performance

an overclocked 2600 would be your best bet for price performance since it will give you the same performance as the 2600x.

Yup thats what i thought about the 3200g
I guess i could go for the cheaper option and just learn to overclock when the time comes. learning new things is always fun.

Combo works

You don't need a 750w psu, any solid 550w will handle your system. Since you already have a cx500 you may as well keep using it.

Also when i upgrade my parts and everything will i still be able to keep everything in my harddrives? So for example my os will it stay the same?
I hope thats how it works or maybe there are some problems ill run into when i put everything together?

edit: do you think my psu right now cx500 is gonna last long with these parts together? i read somewhere that you should atleast have 550 like you mentioned or more for safety?

But will see if this psu is any good with the new parts and then see from there..
The rm series from corsair is supposed to be very good from the reviews ive read about them.
Which company that makes psu do u recommend i look into?

Thanks for the amateur opinion unfortunately professional disagree with that opinion. The cx may be mediocre but awful PSU take out hardware when they go. I've yet to see any test from jonnyguru, TPU, or Tom's stating that.

The vast majority of companies don't make power supplies they just sell them. Look to professional review sites like jonnyguru, Tom's hardware or techpowerup for reviews.

Seasonic is one of the few companies that make their own PSUs while companies like EVGA, Corsair, antec, among others offer a diverse range of units including rebranded seasonic units. Do your homework on any unit.

Alright, i think i will settle for seasonic 650w 80+ gold.

Just made my purchase for the motherboard, processor and ram. Will see how the parts work together, and will probably buy the psu later on, when i see how my current psu works.

Besides being a "cheaper" PSU I have never had a problem with one. I have one that's been going strong for years now, no issues at all. I have also had much more expensive PSU's that were terrible, there's nothing like hooking up a $200 PSU and hearing the coil whine from across the room.
