Upgrading need some advice :)

hey bin a long time ago and im finaly planing to upgrade my system afhter i found out i get low fps in doom 4 at high settings XD

so my plan is to sell my water cooling parts in order to gain some cash for the plan ahead
first i want to do i buy a new case, right now im using a workstation bench desk
the new tower is going to be Corsair Carbide 600C unless here anny one got a differend idea??

afther that im planing up upgrade my xeons right now im using E5520 xeons im planing to get
W5590 nicly clocked at 3.33 ghz cheap to for around 45 bucks
im also planing to use stock intel coolers, unless some one here knows bether, i dont want to use to heavy blocks

last thing my grapics card, not sure what one to get, but i do want to get best deal for my wallet and an improved ment for my HD7970, selling that one to in the end

tough not sure what to do with my memory upgrade to ecc? or stay with these standert ones? currently i got up to 24gb,

I run a GTX 970 in DOOM Ultra settings at 1080P and I get great FPS, up to 140FPS (by memory) and there cheap to buy now.

If you are gaming at 1080p i would put a GTX 970/980 in there paired with a X5670 or X5690 (pricey)

You will take a big hit in GPU performance if you use a newer gen GPU and stick with 1366 platform.

how about that case Corsair Carbide 600C you think a 2 socket xeon board fits in there? it does say it supports E atx, but i always got my doubts

I make/modify my cases so i dont know anything about shop bought ones. If you are certain your motherboard is e atx then it should fit ok.

Considering PC cases, check Be Quiet Dark Base 900 Pro. It's pricey, but very silent case.
Cheaper alternatives are:
- Bitfenix Aurora
- Phanteks Enthoo Pro M
- Antec Nineteen Hundred
Note that they are all cheaper than Corsair.

If you can, get the X5650 instead of W5590. I recommend relatively light and effective cooler such as Be Quiet Shadow Rock Slim (I have it and I am very satisfied with its performance), Thermalright True Spirit 120i or Phanteks PH-TC14S.

I'm surprised that 7970 is producing "low" FPS in Doom 4 on 1680x1050 monitor. It certainly shouldn't. This is still quite powerful card. If you want a new one, go for the RX 470 4GB. If not, search for the Sapphire Nitro R9 380X 4GB.

Your RAM is fine and there's no reason for ECC modules unless you plan to build dedicated server/workstation, but in that case I would recommend at least X5660.

there is a problem, my mainboard can only accept the 5500 family xeons its a revision 1.02 board. 1.03 accepts 5600

and i thinked about the case, i think im better off getting the Chieftec CA-01B-B-SL Full-Tower
atleast got enough space for my mainboard its 35,5x33cm

In that case W5590 seems the best option. There is another option, but I doubt that your motherboard will support them - 6-core Xeon W3670/3680/3690.

Anyways, I recommend asking HP's technical service about the supported CPU's on your motherboard - starting from authorised HP representative in your country. I asked similar question Dell's representative about CPU support list on my laptop.

If you plan to install aftermarket CPU cooler, make sure that you have enough width to fit tall coolers. I recommend 170 mm inner space from the processor lid to the opposite side pannel, since most high performance air coolers are up to 165 mm tall. For instance, my Be Quiet Shadow Rock Slim is 161 mm and it will not fit inside some big-tower cases.

im now looking back at the Corsair Carbide Clear 600C for being a Enhanced EATX (EEATX) formactor case, also mailing one of the shops if its true . realy hard to get a proper case for a HP z800 mainboard :/

tough it can hold a maxium lengt for gpu card 395mm
case comes at 145,95 euro
