Upgrading

Hello everyone ,

i am thinking of upgrading the video card in my current pc

current specs:

Intel PS35 Neon Motherboard
Core2Duo 4400
4 GB DDR2 OCZ HPC REAPER 1066MHz
Geforce 8500GT 512MB
EZCool 400W PSU


I need the new video card to be connected in the same time to 2 monitors, one is my 20' samsung using DVI and the second is my 42' LG using HDMI.

I thought of getting these:

It it enough ? and would this video card work since its ddr5 and my ram is ddr2?

Can't your 8500GT run both monitors at the same time? PSU is good. What are you planning to use them for other than powering your two screens?

my 8500gt deosnt have an hdmi output and i want to use it mostly to watch some bluray movies.

I'd go with a 5770/50 myself. Its got a lil more omph to it. And Gfx card ram and system ram have nothing to do with each other.

If you are only going to watch movies, you are better off going for a cheaper card, like the 5450. However, if you want to play modern games at high quality, then the 5670 is not going to cut it. So, its either going to go all way for a reasonably powerful card or go all the way down to buy the cheapest product. The 5670 is a product that (in my opinion) is in a bad position: not powerful enough to drive games at a decent resolution yet too powerful if only used for watching TV.

I play couple of games like cod mw2, america's army ect...

I actually have a new-in-case VaporX 5770 1024mb DDR5 , thought i wont need it for this kind of use and i planned to use it on another system , that's why i wanted to buy a cheaper one.

and the 650W PSU is enough for this card too ?

5770 takes in a maximum of about 100w, so 650w PSU is enough for 3 of them. price to performance the 5770 is almost the best, if not very close to it. The 5670 however only languish on mid tables when it comes to price to performance. The advantage of running a 5670 is that its power consumption is stellar, taking only 65w, compared to the 8500GT's 40w. I think you will not need to change your power supply if you are upgrading to the 5670. Please do bear in mind that you will not be able to run everything on max/very high when you play games.
