Your PSU is fine. All you need to look at is how many amps and watts the card requires and how many amps and watts your PSU delivers.

Is there a program that can monitor how many watts you have? Because only thing i can find is plugs that convert to how many watts you are using

I don't think that your 5770 is what is holding your system back. I'd go for RAM and a CPU upgrade first. I think that you would be disappointed with the increase in system performance with either the 6850 or the GTX560. Better yet, grap a used 5770 and crossfire them!

EDIT: Also, you don't mention if you've tried to unlock/overclock that CPU.

theres a big boost for the 560 in civilization 5, also beats the 6950 in dirt 2.
its really about the games, so im wondering how games will perform on amd vs nv a couple of years down the road.

One thing is for certain, 2GB of ram is holding you back right now and will be even more so down the road.

Dirt 2 is just a DX9 game with some DX11 eye-candy.
FYI the 6970 being a new arch truly shine in newer DX11 titles.

to answer your question about amps...

according to nvidia it uses 170watts (although i wouldn't be surprised if some OC modes hit 202w) meaning it draws 14.2A, or at 202w, 17A so your fine

maybe get a 2nd set of Ballistix?

from what i saw in another post, the 6870 is close to a 560 in performance and is a tad cheaper. As later drivers come out that the 560's lead could be more significant but only time will tell

Tell him the cpu to N/B vid is the most important voltage on the PHII set it to 1.375v. Also the GTX 560 is allot quieter than a 6950 and the reviews I read have them neck and neck. Plus the 560 gtx schools the 6950 in tess. and if you fold thats a plus as-well. It truely depends on the game Also as minor as it might be I like Physx.

Actually the biggest improvement on the 6k series is tessellation..
Plus the 560 gtx schools the 6950 in tess.
Actually the only edge the 6950 has on the 560 Ti is tess.

^h.a.w.x 2 tells a different story.
but yeah the radeon beats in moderate tess. but they still dont like high levels of tesselation.
i like the 6950 but its still ~$300, and i wouldnt go with the 1gb version.

I run a 1090T and a GTX460 on a 500w corsair PSU, both overclocked and overvolted, so you should have no issues running a GTX560 at all.

I think it would be worth adding another 2gb ram and getting the 560 or a 6950, my choice would be a GTX560 tho, there are some stunning non reference cards out already. I'd pick from the two gigabyte models, the base model costs MSRP ($249) and has an OC to put it on par with a 6950 and a better/quieter cooler, and their SOC model is on par with a 6970/GTX570 with an even better cooler on it @ roughly $269
