Right.. im building my pc for the first time and i have everything installed almost and im putting on the cpu (amd 939 3700+ and heatsink and fan provided)

now ive put in the processor, no problems and i've put the fan on top however i can't seem to clip both the clips down, its ultra hard and i dont want to force it too hard. Any advice? please help.

basically i got both clips on at one stage with a lil screwdrive but the locking mechanism bar on the right wouldn't go down so i sensed a problem and unclipped the bars again.. im sure they should be able to clip without much force but all the instructions i have are diagrams no words. What am i doing wrong? :(

I think u may have hooked it wrong it shouldn't be to hard you just kinda hook one side and then the other and then swing down the plastic hook till it fastens in place as it reaches down to hook onto the other. Best description i could come up with atm. I just woke up  hope that helps :toast:

my first impression.. is this thng gonna break.. but ignoring all caution i just pressed harder and harder till the lever locked over.. that was after checking the thing was mounted correctly several times..

it isnt hard to fix.. just that the locking lever requires some force to lock down.. enough to make some folks wonder if the thing is gonna break.. me being one of em..

I'm with Trog, I just got a new opty 146, and the hsf was scaring me. I spent more than a few minutes staring at that diagram trying to see what I was doing wrong. Didn't think I was gonna have to force it as hard as I did. Just go ahead and crank on it!
