So.

I want to get A Vive, however I do not want to move my computer / cockpit. I have known for some time their are Rj45 cat5/5e/6 converters for all kinds of stuff. USB / DVI / HDMI / Auido ect ect ... however I have never used any of these.

My house is wired with Cat 6 and would like to Set up A Vive in another room ... my question would be , would their be any latency / have you used stuff like this.

Should note, This will not go threw my router(s) or Switches ... I would use my Patch port to bring it from my Computer room ... threw the walls .. to the patch port (sever closet) small cat 6 patch port cable back into patch port for target room. No Switch / Router .

If it's just passively wired, it'd be like a very bad version of the native cable. And so, if you don't have it pretty short, you're likely to run into length limits.

How long?

Well I think all these converters have amplifiers built into them ... my guess going up / down and threw the walls and shit ... maybe 50 feet worth of cable. I would assume cat6 has more bandwidth then HDIM. These converters have ratings on them 50 meters , 100 meters seen up to 300 meters but that $900.00. But I am thinking this is for really just waching TV / Video ... dont think they had it in mind for VR lol .... I know you can do something like this with Thunderbolt ...but Thunderbolt cable cost A arm / leg / first child / 2nd child and another $1000.00 ... 3ft of Thunderbolt is about $34.00

Latency if it's just passive wires I wouldn't see being an issue. But that length concerns me. Cat6 is unshielded cable and I'm not certain it'll make that without an active repeater at some point in the cable. And active repeaters? Those DO add latency.

Honestly I don't know enough to answer this, but I tried, hehe. :)
