I purchased a used EVGA GEFORCE GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0 off eBay. What can I do to test it when I receive it to make sure it's running properly? Besides the obvious plug it in and make sure it runs.

Run a game. :) /thread.

But seriously, that's your best bet, obviously run some benches, heaven/valley have been mentioned, don't forget 3dMark of course but your best indicator of whether it is "stable" is going to be gaming on it, fire up one of your latest titles and spend an hour putting it through it's paces at what it's meant to be used for, any instability will definitely show itself then. :toast:

heres the results from My 970 running Valley @1080p 4xAA .ultra quality. its a decent score for a gtx Ref 970..i dunno why it says Win8, im on Win 10, but its likely a bug, or just hasnt been updated to allow for 10 maybe.

It's good to keep on for troubleshooting. Here's the fun part: unless you're using it, it automatically shuts off. If your dGPU dies then you have that little backup for troubleshooting.

Play some games that you like or would normally play.
Benchmarks are also a good idea.
