Hi all, I was able to purchase a card from someone but it appears it a modded bios and can’t get to show any output.
I also can’t seem to find a verified proper bios at TPU.

Here is a sticker of the card that I have. I’ve tried multiple bios online and one unverified one in TPU but most flashed and then crashed during installing drivers and a couple installed drivers and read the cards correctly but did not have any output even after using pixel patcher that didn’t fix the certificate issue.

I did mostly everything in herehttps://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/i-bought-a-used-rx-470-8gb-and-it-has-issues.248311/ minus using any bios in there. Seems like I have all that OPs issues in the thread but I think mine is a Nitro+ while his is a Nitro. There is one Nitro+ 8gb one in TPU but that ones give me no output.

Any help will be greatly appreciate.

Check for a bios switch on the card

You need to pull the card heatsink off and verify what ram is on the card, take a picture of 1 ram chip close up and a board shot of all ram chips surrounding gpu die. Have thermal compound ready for the gpu die, clean gpu die and heatsink off and apply fresh compound.

I had that card, I think it comes in 2 flavours. 8Gb (mine) and a 4Gb. There was a bios switch though, so try in second position.

Sorry, no not that particular card. One like it.

Something to learn and know about gpus, just because the sku is the same doesn't determine what ram is on it, since the card is blank only a physical ram verification will help matters If it doesnt come up on other switch side that is, even still sometimes the card will have a 0/0 on current clocks meaning wrong bios for particular ram.

Sorry for sticking my nose in, I was only trying to point out to someone who sounded like he may not know, that there is a switch that might switch to a second, working, bios.
I'll just get me coat........

Rare instances a card will come up with incorrect bios but example a hynix only bios on a elpida card, will read 0/0.

No no just sharing some knowledge, thanks for affirming this line has a bios switch, i do recall 400 series did not just wasn't sure myself.

Besides this is a forum, any help is welcome.

Hi all, just wanted to say THANK YOU for all the replies. I was up until 3am trying to flash multiple BIOS and none seem to work and woke up to see all your messages. Thank you!! I will take apart the GPU and take a picture of the board. Hopefully you can determine what RAM is being used. Question about GPUz - sending a screenshot is not reliable right? I would think a bad bios on it right now would probably have the wrong info would it not?

Currently these are the steps I am taking when flashing:
1. Run DDU in safe mode to remove all AMD drivers
2. Boot into Windows mode and run atiflash from the command line
3. run atiflash -f -p 0 bios.rom (tried about 5 different ones)
4. restart computer each flash and then install Radeon drivers. At this point there is it where it diverges.
a. 3 bios fail to install the amd drivers. They crash when installed and I get a Thread is stuck BSOD
b. 2 bios are able to install the drivers and Radeon RX 470 show up in device manager. Both have issues saying code 43 and can’t work properly. I use the Toastyx bios patcher that other forums have pointed out, but still code 43. These cards have no output on HDMI, DVI, etc =(

Also when I flip the switch on the bios it's artifacting really really bad then crashes. I was able to save the bios quickly. It appear it has a "heliox mining bios" associated to it.

I hope I’m doing these correctly in that specific order. I will get a picture of the board in about a couple of hours on my lunch break. Thank you all!

Gpu-z gets info from bios, if wrong bios is on card gpu-z displays wrong info

This is why a ram chip verification is needed, make sure the ram chip info is clear. Also get a pic of all chips surrounding card

Here are my pictures. Thanks for looking. All the bios I’ve tried that failed and semi worked appeared to say Micron in gpu-z but on the board it looks like it say Samsung. Thank again for helping!!

Good deal I will look

K4G80325FB HC25

Ok definitely a 8GB card. Lets see

Down by the edge of the pcie contact blade i see a stain, the traces look damaged, that could be why it doesnt come on. I will get you a stock bios but the card may need a repair.

On dual bios cards, when the bios switch is flipped to the left towards video outputs is the quiet bios 1206/2000 or 1216/2000

When flipped to the right towards the pcie power connector it is performance 1260/2000.

Pay attention to this when looking at each file, under "Bios Internals" Title on each file, match the
"GPU Device Id:" between 1260/2000 and 1206/2000 or 1216/2000 files

That will get you a performance bios with a quiet bios as a pair for the card.

Make sure Samsung K4G80325FB is in the "Bios Internals"

Verified bios date 2016 07 15

Unverified
Latest Performance bios 2017 07 23

Here are all that you need just comb through them

The bios build dates that match between the 1260 and 1206/1216 should match or be close.

Use ati/amdflash in windows, there is no need for command prompt unless mismatch error occurs

So it appears all these are related to K4G80325FB. Do I just through each one of them by flashing and see if they work? Also, why are there so many unverified BIOS? Does that mean they are contributions from people and not from Sapphire?

Thanks! I'll go ahead and go through this list and hit the 1206 and 1216 first. Hopefully one of them will work! Will update you guys tonight once I get home and try it out. When the AMD drivers crash my system during installation does that mean that BIOS won't work? It just loops restarting and the failing to get into Windows.

The uploads from users are from sapphire cards, just tpu staff doesnt have time to test everything.

Ive helped countless users restore cards or direct them to a solution.

Thanks so much! I get home in an
Hour and will try 1206/1216 first and see if one works!

thanks for help me! Will give update tonight

@eidairaman1 Something weird is happening. Here are the steps I am taking.

1. I check GPU-Z and it says Micron memory
2. I run DDU in safe mode to delete all drivers in safe mode
3. I restart and login and then I flash the first Bios you gave that says Samsung in it.
4. I restart again and before I install Radeon software and driver I check GPU-Z and it still says Micron.... Shouldn't it say Samsung?

Flashing work correctly. I did it through the application and cmd line separately to check and both say Micron.

I used this Bios https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/187669/sapphire-rx470-8192-160715

So I tried flashing all the bios that are either 1206/1216 and flashing is fine but when I tried to restart and then install Radeon drivers it crashes. Also every time I look in gpuz before and after flashing it still says MIcron memory. I checked if the flash went through and it did work perfectly.

when I check device manager for the display it says The code 13 error and also “this driver trying to start is not the same as the driver for the POSTed display adapter”

I was able to install one BIOS that had Samsung show up in GPU-z finally! Problem is in device manager it says there’s an issue with the rx 470.

I use the pixel patcher and then restart and when I login windows I get BSOD. Then I go safe mode and to remove the patch.. I’m able to login normally it just has an error in device manager. Ughhh I guess the card is dead =(

last update before I go to sleep. When plugging into the BIOS that reads Samsung I can use the cards HDMI port to get an output. In device manager it says there’s a problem still code 31. I try and use the patcher it succeeds but when I restart I can’t get into windows and it BSOD =(

That card is damaged, I'd return it if possible or see if zettabit.lab or actually hardcore overclocking @buildzoid could repair it.

I'd suggest getting a brand new RX570

Thanks for the help @eidairaman1!!! At least we tried every step. It was fun learning lol! Do you think I should put back the mining bios? The card would still be good at mining, right?

Oh not for me but to sell it as a mining card since the bios went I bought it looked like a mining bios.

No guarantee the card will last or work correctly in mining, especially with those damaged contacts, id return if possible

Sounds like mining, either repair them or strip heatsink and sell heatsink
