I think he wants a section of the forum dedicated to review posted from non-tpu staff members. For instance, if some buys a computer upgrade, reviews it...and post his/her results here.

It would do fine in the project logs I think, maybe a sub-forum...

As long as it doesn't get overcrowded with poor reviews... maybe some sort of digg system where if it gets a certain number of negative votes it gets reported to a mod who can remove it. I like the idea myself :)

Might be good. I like the rating system idea, maybe we could do it case-gallery style?

Sounds like a good way to organise it. Plus the review idea sounds useful.

what if it were set up similar to the referance wiki, as far as the layout (categories with fun icons & user friendly) that way instead of people posting "i have 1000$$$ what should i get" they could just go there and click on fun little CPU or memory icons and see reviews and ratings for the stuff and base thier decision from that. just a though...:D

Or you could just use the wiki to begin with. Create an article for X piece of hardware.

I think there would need to be a new reviews section on the wiki - at the moment the articles are supposed to be fact-based, reviews include opinions.

Rating system would be required.

Allowing a freedom to post a review in a "database" style fashion is begging for bias.

Manufacturers are known to skew product reviews, users may not use proper tools (I.E. PSU test-- ZOMG! my PC werks grate!!!, while the rails sit at 11.7V or something)

If done right it could be very effective... Digg style = WIN

maybe there could be a link in each catagory for the proper testing software.

This would be a cool idea....You guys could give us some kind of format to go by. If its not worthy to be in the section it could be moved to another area very easily too.

I really like this Idea.I am in the middle of testing 3 types of thermal paste under strict guidelines.Just want to keep it real as they say.

There would have to be some requirements for each type of review. Some sort of methodology would have to be outlined and followed.

Well another option would to have a mod who monitors the reviews - a user submits it, if it meets the criteria it gets posted (the voting system could still stay) and it there is anything wrong with it the mod could send a message back making recommendations.

Not sure how easy it would be to set that up, but I'm still supporting the user reviews idea.
