hi,
I apologise if its wrong place to ask this question, please forgive me this time.

Im using gtx 1070 for mining, getting 490+ sol/s
Is it possible to run gtx 1070 and gtx 1060 together for mining?

Idk specifically about nvidia, but I have multiple r9 290s running with a 290x and I had a r9 280 running as well and it just used all the gpus to their full power without an issue. Gtx 1070s seem good for mining, if not one of those maybe a 1060 as you said? Idk how well a 980 ti does but a used one for maybe like 300 usd depending on hashrate could be a good investment

Interesting chart. Surprised the r9 290/290x isn't on there. My 299x gets 32mh/s at current dag epoch of (is it 139?) With a slight overclock, my 290s get 30 with a slight overclock as well.

@op, a secondhand r9 290 might be a good investment, mine mine ethereum with a slight mem and core oc at 30mh/s, and I got them at $125usd a piece

Yeah, I have no idea if it's correct. Either way "cheap" and "mining card" aren't easy to find.

490sols/s is great for a single GTX1070, I can barely crack 800 with two. That said you can probably add any other card you want, just don't mix AMD and Nvidia. Getting a GTX1080 (or ti if you got the dosh) might be a good way to go. The 1070 and the 1080 are inherently different due to the use of GDDR5 on the 1070, and GDDR5x on the 1080, so they'll be better at running different things. That way you can diversify your portfolio a little (and if you set the 1080 up as your primary GPU, have a little more grunt for gaming).

What are you mining specifically?
That should help others more experienced with mining than myself.

sols/s is a measure of performance in Equihash, which is the algorithm for zcash.

That appears to be a chart measuring DaggerHashimoto (ethereum) performance. Not entirely relevant to equihash as the value of these various coins goes up and down all the time, and different cards perform differently with different algorithms.

Thanks to all,

I think the 6GB variant is a little stronger, but aside from that, there has been some concern over whether or not 3GB would be enough for mining (at least ethereum) in the near future. If you're set on picking up a 1060, play it safe and get the 6GB variant.

for current and possible future use 6Gb is the way to go
But because its 6 GB rather than 3 GB it attracts a higher price premium

That chart is clearly as is , without any effort, with effort here are my figures
rx 480 ref @rx580mod @1240Core 2100(1725timings)150watts = 29.3 Mh/s
r9 390 stck no oc @1045core 1500memory 225watts = 29.2Mh/s
rx 580 saphire modded bios @ 1240Core 2100(1725timings)150watts = 28Mh/s
gtx 1060 asus oc samy @ 1600core 2200memory 95watts = 22.3Mh/s
Rx vega 64 @1140core 950memory 85wattscore 85watts memory = 33.3Mh/s

This is a big part of vegas inefficiency its memory uses a lot of watts

all the amd ones are with amds mining driver bar Vega as i game on it and all including the nvidia figures are while dual mining decred or libry on nvidia

I know theres is no cheap word in mining,
But i asked because if i buy another gtx 1070 which is expensive right now due to limited stocks, about 55000+ inr,
But gtx 1060 is less than half About 23000INR ( inr: indian rupees)

I have few questions,
How much improvement with be after adding gtx 1060 with1070.

Do both different card work together in gaming?

They won't work together while gaming, but you can leave one card mining while your primary card runs the game.

you would be much much better off getting another 1070 imho it will sli correctly and work well in most games a 1060 wouldnt even if it did work easy.
this would double your mining output but also tuning matters a lot i keep core speeds low to keep memory high but its balanced to hit max memory speeds.

I saw this on asus website "MINING-P106-6G"
Is it different from normal gtx 1060?

Warranty Terms may be Significantly Different from Full Retail Card (Your need to check them out for your location point of Sale)

Example the announced Warranty was Supposed to be 90 Days which falls significantly short of the Rights the EU inc UK force manafactures and Suppliers to adhere to. ( two Years minimum)

Thank you to all, really helpful people always in this forum.

Have any one tested algorithms?
I mean which performs best?
At mine i think equahash gives better atleast 490 sols and better earning but dont know number is true or not,
Whats your opinion?

It's not so much as a matter of the performance of the algorithm, per se, as it is how well the cryptocurrency that algorithm is doing. If Ethereum shot up to $1000 today, everybody would be running DaggerHashimoto, and other algorithms like Equihash would be left behind quick as shit. Hash rate doesn't directly translate into what you earn. If the market never changed then it would, but the values of these cryptocurrencies are constantly in flux and so are the earnings from running the algorithms for those coins.

Thanks for reply,
Its confusing, you guys are so experienced,
Btw
Im thinking to buy antminer s9 but its so confusing, i got confused btween mhs ghs ths,
I mean if s9 giving 13ths, its still earning 22usd per day according to today market,
If i get 10 gtx 1060 it would be same but still not near 1 terahash.

I found nicehash pool bit easy,
Do you think s9 also work in nicehash?

That's because the GTX 1060 runs many different algorithms, which as I pointed out earlier, are more dependent on how well that particular currency is doing. The antminer runs SHA256 exclusively, which is very different from the algorithms the GTX 1060 is capable of running. 13 TH/s in SHA256 is very different from 13 TH/s in DaggerHashimoto for example, main difference being SHA256 is for Bitcoin and DaggerHashimoto is for Ethereum.

i have just put together an 1070 x 8 card mining rig.. total cost (all new parts) around £4000.. the cost of the hardware aint cheap..

they do around 400 sols per card and pull 1100 watts from the wall.. viable or not i havnt a clue.. maybe maybe not..

i use nicehash which mines whatever it thinks is best and pays out in bitcoin.. at the moment 400 sols seems to produce $2 US dollars per day.. 8 cards see $16 US dollars per day..

this would be minus leccy costs which are not overly cheap in the UK..

short term profit.. no way.. long term profit... maybe..

trog
