UT engine coming to android

After making a splash on iOS the unreal engine is heading its way to Android.

Hopefully what this means for PC gamers is that they mainly finally put to rest the UT3 engine for PC games and bring out a new engine. Because if it can be run on iOS devices and Android devices it goes to show how crap this engine is these days.

yeah have to agree a with you. Its a damn fine engine. That and the Source engine i would have to say are my favourite engines

Frostbite works well but could look better still. Source flows perfectly but is too straight edged.

cryengine 3 looks to be the shizmanizzle.

idtech3 and Omen Engine

+1 on the idtech3 engine. There were some stellar games and a wide variety of graphics on that engine.

The Frostbite engine is a steaming pile of crap that barely works. It looks pretty (sometimes) and stuff blows up...that's really about it.

Anyway UE coming to Android sounds pretty cool. Back in the day I couldn't run UT very well until I got a 1 GHz Athlon. Funny that phones have now surpassed the specs of a good gaming rig 10 years ago.

I'd actually say that this proves just how good Unreal Engine really is! It can downscale to weak devices, while it can still look quite good on PCs (with proper textures, of course).

After all, textures and polygons are the things that affect how the game looks in the end, engine is (more-or-less) just the tool to put everything together (of course, some engines provide better optimizations, some don't, but that's another story)

Phones still aren't that powerful (although, they are quite powerful), but don't forget the evolution of the engine during all that time + all the optimizations made specifically for the phones

Gota love the gamebyro engine just for how scaleble it is, fallout 3 mods and oblivion mods make it epic looking.

sorry i cant go with CE3 because its based around static lighting and other junk its basically becoming more like Unreal Engine 3 because ppl bitched to much. CE 2 on the other hand is focused more on Dynamics so runs like poop at highest settings but gives the greatest graphical fidelity. That and if cry engine 3 was DX11 optimized id pick that but from what i know its DX10.... then again i havent read up on it lately as im disappointed in Crysis 2 being dumbed down graphically
