I have a EVGA 8800gt, V-modded and is currently running at 800core-2000shader-900mem.
I have the option to get a great deal for a 8800GTX which is 695core-1350shader-900mem.

My interests pretty much lie in Benchmarking this card. Well gaming wise, when I do its at 1280x1024reso.
I know that the 8800gtx has a Higher bandwidth, more stream processors and the extra 256MB of mem.

Two questions I have,
which card will get higher bench scores?

And whoevers owned a 8800gtx, what clocks did you get out of it?

Oh yeah and can you V-Mod the GTX:D?

Thank, fellas

@ the mentioned clocks i would actually dive on the 8800GTX

as you say, more SP's higher mem amount and badwidth

having said that the 8800GT at those clocks will probably edge the GTX out at low res.

i have owned both and currently still have my GTX, highest clocks attained were;

GTX 621/1620/2000 - watercooled
GT 800/2000/1900 - zalman VF-1000, also vmodded lol

my personal choice, and the card out of the 2 i still have is the 8800GTX, it should still outlast a 512mb 8800GT IMO.

^Nice, i'm glad your speaking from personal experience.

Im probably gonna grab the GTX, esp since I got a great deal on it.

Did you happen to test them back to back on 3d06?

To be honest I think it would be pretty close, as the GT is as fast as the 640MB GTS and the GTX isnt a whole lot faster; add on top that your GT is flying at its current clocks and the GTX is harder to clock and I think you may be having regrets at some point.

If I was looking for a card that clocks well, beats a 8800GTX and is cheap, I'd get a 9800GTX+ as they can be had for fairly cheap and clock very well..add a vmod in there and the GTX+ will leave the G80 GTX for dead. :rockout:

I mean i'm getting it for pretty cheap it will be part of a partial trade and some cash, Under 50$.
If I can clock it to a little above Ultra speeds, I will be a happy camper.

I would love to get my hands on a 9800GTX+, but I cant even imagine V-modding a card if I pay over 100$ for it.

Also I thought the GTX was a G92 core?

I see you have the 98GTX+ nice clocks on it, is it V-modded?

GTX = 65nm
GTX+ = 55nm

My card isnt vmodded at all, it's just the eVGA GTX+ OC. :)

Good stuff man:toast:

So I just decided to keep the 8800GT.

I'm going with a Custom WC setup and will throw my V-Moded 8800GT in the loop.Getting DD Maze5 for it:D

Hopefully I can take this card up to 900Core. Results will be coming soon.
