Dota 2 is Valve's new game based on the Defense of the Ancients mod for Warcraft 3.

It's an RTS game with RPG elements and is slated for release in 2011. Expect delays.

Valve seems to be good at making games out of mods. Team Fortress was originally a Quake mod. Alien Swarm was originally a UT2K4 mod. And, of course, this DOTA 2 coming up was originally a mod from Warcraft 3.
