Msi afterburner isn't good tool for that. It just read the bios settings..

I always flash from Windows, it's so much simpler, no command lines to worry about just click and go......... some don't like it, don't know why, I have been doing it for 10 years and never had any issues, at the end of the day whichever way, a flash is a flash so if it didn't work with one method it won't work with the other.

if you want to upload your modded Bios here as a zip file I will take a look at it when I am home after work but you sound as though you know what your doing so I doubt you have missed anything within VBE7.

Here it is...

I noticed that, on msi lightning, when screen goes of, vents go down to zero RPM's...

All I did was lower the fan profile but I have lowered it based on a hunch, seem to remember once when I tried it ages ago on version 7 that it always gave me 5% more than I set so I have set yours at 20% based on that hunch. Version 7a fixes some fan profile bugs though so dependant on what version you have used my hunch may not work out any different.

I tried v6 and v7... Post feedback later :)
If it Boots :D

Im sorry i didnt understood you, have you set 15% to be 20%(what i actualy need), or 20 to be 25%, because its minimum % is 25% by default.. In stock bios says its 30% but it isnt.....

You need to use at least version 7a to set profile because 7a fixed fan profile bugs, try again using 7a to see if that fixes it at 20% for you.

Sorry, yes 15%, try it here...........

In that case it is hardware limited unfortunately, the only way to get around your predicament is to buy an aftermarket cooler for the card.

Nice tool!
Brought hope to XFX R9 280X Double Black owners like me:)
Couldn't change voltage in Msi AB.
In VBE7b the voltage field only accepts 3 digit after been clicked.
What I'm doing wrong? :(

Is it possible to add changer of VRAM voltage and - or shader voltage???

My 7970 Matrix platinum started artefacting on stock clock but I lowered GPU core voltage to 1.162 volt (1100Mhz) now it is way way better, but still after few hours it starts random artefacting...so I wish to try to lower vRAM and shader voltage to try to eliminate artefacts completely...
Thank you.

Or he could put a small trim pot on the power line of the fan unit.

He could, I will let him decide which would be the easiest solution :)

Hi there!
just wanted to thank you a lot for this GPU BIOS EDIT Tool.
It saved my Sapphire HD 7850 !

Since some last driver updates, there was some problem with the Fan Settings, which ended up getting always Bluescreens when on medium GPU Load.
So i edited the Fan-Control of my card like this:

And it solved my Bluescreens!!

I modified my 7850 using this method, but when i upgraded to the crimson drivers or "AMD settings" i lost my ability to increase or decrease the voltage.... The voltage says it's being modified but when i load up GPU-Z and look at the VDDC under Sensors it shows that the VDDC is not being changed at all... is anyone else having this issue with crimson drivers?

Will be added support for IR 3563 International Rectifier chips? On 2015 msi r9 280x gaming voltage change in bios doesn't work.

I'm here from Italy, hoping you can help me to improve my sapphire 7950 overclock performance.
First of all, this is the bios I flashed on my GPU (file 1), then I have increased the VDCC to 1300 (file 2) and the TDP limit to 90% (file3).
With this setting I can pass a heaven 4.0 benchmarck without artifacts on the screen max at 1175 mhz core and 1500mhz memory, so I ask you if inrcreasing the TDP value I can have more stability at Higher core clock.
Even If I set the Voltage at 1300 on MSI AB, during heaven 4.0 It never go over 1,25v (Max temp is 66/67) even with 1200 core clock.
Thank you for reply and sorry for my bad english.....

I'm having major issues since the bios modding doesn't really do anything I mean I did manage the world record pitcairn r7 370 cuda compute on Hotel 3.0 Luxmark.

This can clock insanely high and I used graphite on the gpu core and new screws to tighten it down all the way.

My main issue is say I set Performance to 1000Mhz.. the VDDC in windows reports continuously 1.163v .. But I want more volts.. set 1175.. still 1163 .. set 1188 .. still 1163 ..

Though I have been able to get it up to 1.200v and I think higher but I don't remember what I did...

How do I bypass the 1.163v default voltage since it's also going to unstable 1.163v which crashes.. need more volts ....

I just want say 1333 @ 1.188v @ whatever tdp it needs..

Thanks

This utility is either not very good at setting the voltage in the BIOS, or the voltage on your card is locked. Or both. I do know I and many others have had the same luck you're having with it. As in none. And if you can't get it done with this or AB, then you're probably SOL. Unless you've got some hard mod skills.

You're welcome to set a pitcairn record in my Heaven scores thread. See ya around...or not. Up to you.

Anywho, good luck with that!

Thanks I also had a question where is this 1.163v coming from? Performance says 1.150v... Boot shows the max clock.. isn't that weird... 995Mhz at 1.118v at boot by default... Changing it doesn't change thing hardly..

Yeah ill give it a shot.. working on temps now having issues but hopefully i sorted them out.. lack of contact and pressure on core.. AMD puts too large a gap between the core diode and heatsink mating surface. Had to sand down the pegs a little to increase pressure.

Also found poor utilization was resolved by setting in the temperature fan tab.. Min at 30C, Med at 80C, High at 82C, Max at 83C that way it wouldn't throttle the utilization until 80-83C.. which allows it to run full speed for a lot longer.

The cards voltage isnt locked it can do 1.2 or more volts but the VBE as he said in the Op he limited it because he thought powerplay would go nuts.. I need the ability to change the base clock and voltage and I'll work out the kinks on my own...

This card can do 1200 - 1300 - 1400 - 1500 mhz which is crazy but VBE limits what I can do.. In RBE I could do more on pre-hd7000 cards..

Right now I'm trying to or want the developer to resolve the voltage issues so I can find this 1.163v value the card usually goes to if I don't mod much.. If I do more modding I can get 1.200v but it's just not how I wanna do it lol

It seems the TDP % thing doesn't do much so I like a static TDP.. and set Overdrive values to all 0 .. then set TDP from 105 to the skys the limit...

I disabled ULPS but maybe it did better with it on.. I even uninstalled MSI Afterburner...

Catalyst Control Center or whatever the new one is reports correctly no Overdrive tab is absent/ missing since I set values to 0..

Anyway thanks but it's the fault of the application... It's LIMITED... :(

HWInfo64 reports the R7 370 as a R9 270 lol

XFX AMD R7 370 VBE BIOS4.jpg

Im taking one step at a time seeing what does what basically.. got this far by changing boot voltage it runs at that voltage .. so all other voltages are useless... trying to find what does what got this far .. shows 1.175v... As far as clock goes still cant get anything to stick since it auto-reverts to the dredded 995Mhz .. Seriously...

Now I set new settings.. set only boot from 995 to 1200 .. left only 1.175v as boot all others the same zero change.. Boot is the voltage 3d runs at so I know that much .. as far as clocks go it auto-reverts to 995mhz at 1.175v ... Need to get away from that auto-correct really really badly i hate how it wants to go to 995 anyway like modding does nothing.. I don't ever wanna see 995 ever

XFX AMD R7 370 VBE BIOS6.jpg

XFX AMD R7 370 VBE BIOS5.jpg

So after many hours of testing I found setting both boot and performance clock to the same value along with the voltage, that way it would default to the desired voltage and clocks.

I found in game in every game like GTA V it works at 1200Mhz core clock, 1400Mhz memory clock at 1.200v (Max) since 1.225v (Blue Screens Prior to Windows atikmdag.sys... Fix?!?

Setting tdp to 999 watts just to give zero tdp bottleneck, max 1.200v seeing extra low heat anyway, 100% fan at 54C... My custom setting completely inaudible since it's modded on hardware and software just 60 to 61C in game inaudible.

Clocks can be seen as high as 1380Mhz without continuous drivers crashes, but Luxmark would complete at say 1375Mhz max although I beat the record on Luxmark 3.0 hotel with this card beating GTX 950s and 960s and approaching GTX 970s.

Maybe that 1.225v is what I need? I do believe the voltage regulators and ram are overheating though so that will be addressed.
