Hi,

I need a vbios for the following card:

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/msi-gtx-1050-ti-mobile-4-gb.b8524

The details of the current bios are:

Sign-On Message : GP106 E2914 SKU 30 VGA BIOS
IFR Subsystem ID : Blank
Subsystem Vendor ID : 0x1462
Subsystem ID : 0x1244
Version : 86.06.6F.00.2B
Product Name : GP106 Board
Device Name(s) : GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
Board ID : 0x005D
Vendor ID : 0x10DE
Device ID : 0x1C21
Chip SKU : 730-M
Project : 2914-0030
Build Date : 06/01/18
Modification Date : 08/19/18

I don't see it in the techpowerup database. If it is indeed not in the collection of vBIOS's here, are there other places to get thes vBIOS's for GPUs online (not from manufacturers) other than the techpowerup website?

MSI has a forum on their site where there can be obtained newer BIOSes. I have in the past requested and got a newer BIOS for my MSI GTX 970 card (the black and white one).

You need to select unverified

Get a gpu-z screenshot

Are you having this still going on?

The other thread about an MSI with a black screen is not related. That's fixed.

I know the chip is correct because GPUz takes me straight to it.

Thanks for the suggestion of the MSI forum. I was hoping though that there would be a place, like techpowerup's collection, where it's possible to find vBIOS' and download them (not wait for replies on a forum or from a manufacturer).

What does 'you have to select unverified' mean? Unverified where?

Grab a gpu-z screenshot and post it here, i will help you look for a bios if there is 1 available

As with most medium class mobile GPU's, the VBIOS should be embedded in system BIOS.
Check your laptop's support page for an update of the system BIOS.

What is the actual problem with current VBIOS?

The dGPU isn't working properly. I discovered when connecting an external monitor via HDMI that it causes repeated momentary system hangs, and the mode seems to repeatedly switch between dGPU and iGPU. Investigating further, it seems any app which is configured to use the dGPU causes the mode to switch to dGPU mode, as it should, but activating the dGPU clock boost or placing a heavy load on the dGPU causes a switch back to iGPU mode. Before sending it in for RMA I thought to try and update / refresh the vBIOS.

Where you say it is embedded in the system BIOS, are you referring there to both the iGPU and the vGPU? Updating the dGPU bios is done using MSI afterburner isn't it, not system bios?

Yes both GPU's plus some other firmwares.
Afterburner has no built-in flash tool, instead MSI offers https://download.msi.com/uti_exe/vga/LiveUpdate.zip
From my experience only high end mobile GPU's can be flashed separately, actually the notebook should have a sticker "MXM" somewhere.

10DE 1C21 1462 1244 does not turn up anything in the database, you will need to contact msi directly for help or replace the card with the 1 designed specifically for your mobile

Sorry I meant NVflash for Nvidia GPUs.
