Leaks show that AMD's Vega 10 based graphics cards destroy a GTX 1080 running at over 1900 mhz in Doom running at 4K with Vulkan.

Not only is the card 10 percent faster than the GTX 1080, but Vega is running without its proper graphics drivers, instead relying on the fury drivers to power it, and with a debugger layer slowing things doom even further.

Nothing new....

We want to see how it runs without Vulkan, how many games support Vulkan? :p
Also I want to see how it performs in DX11, would it still be better than a GTX1080?

10% is not massively faster. We also don't know enough about the card. That being said, I would bloody expect Vega to beat the mid range, over priced GP104 card.
Look at Titan performance at Doom. Then configure that as the proper high end, extortionately priced 1080ti.
If Vega is to save AMD, it's going to need to obliterate the 1080 because a 'ti' version will also destroy the 1080.

Edit: 37%. That's how much faster at 4k, GP102 is.

Careful, You're going to get the haters who tell you the price means it isn't mid-range, and to hell with NVIDIA's own classification system which shows GP-104 to be the mid-range chip.

Yeah, 1080 is Pascal's fastest chip. Apart from Titan Xp. And the 1080ti when released. Nvidia haven't released their top chip in a generation first since.... GTX580? (which was a fixed GTX480).

And by the pricing argument, Nano was the premium chip from Fiji...

That's true. Nvidia learned something with the 680 release. People would actually pay $500 for a mid range GPU as long as it was as fast as a high end AMD GPU (7970)

Man the overclocked 1080 is awfully close to the TxP!

I tried to find a gaming application of a Titan Xp overclock. This was the best I could find from the bunch listed above:

Vega has some stupendously large shoes to fill.

Proof positive that @Adored is right.
Despite the new low cost cards like RX 480 and GTX 1060, and despite Ramgate and the class-action lawsuit decision, people are still buying brand new GTX 970s.
Even if the top-tier Vega chip went head to head with the Pascal Titan for less money, people will still choose the Green Team!

Sounds promising, but I'm interested in the usual - Price, Performance, Power consumption and Noise, may as well add appearance too as people purchase based on that as well.

You're correct. A successful company like NVIDIA has plenty of advertising money. That's something AMD doesn't have. They need success to have the money to be common in people's minds, but they have to be well known and purchased by people to have that success. It's almost a no-win for them, no matter how good the product, and they've made some very fine ones.

About the 970, no matter what the hate poured on it for having 1/2 gig slower RAM, and the lawsuit, do you know why it was and is popular? Because it's a damned fine GPU, as anyone who has used one knows. Bottom line it performs well, with low heat output, and high over clocking, and handles most everything thrown at it as long as you don't try to make it do 4K or maxed out 1440p.

It would make sense for i to be Vega10. Vega11 should be along the lines of GTX 1070. Or in other words, it has to be a lot faster than RX480, that's for sure...

It says 10 I believe.

It says Vega 10, but I don't believe anyone on the AMD side ever announced it did they?

It would make sense for i to be Vega10. Vega11 should be along the lines of GTX 1070. Or in other words, it has to be a lot faster than RX480, that's for sure...

Only 1TFLOP than the 480. You could do that with a very well binned Polaris 10 chip.

If this is actually Vega 10 I hope drivers free up 30+ % of performance otherwise the vega 11 chip won't really have a spot...

Well the test is still a sample engineering version of Vega chip. same was with ZEN and all the leaks. Similar here. I only hope that this vega will be great. I mean honestly from what I've seen so far it is promising. I bought my 780Ti just to wait for the vega chip and that mysterious rx490. I said in a different post that AMD is releasing rx490 as an improved Polaris maybe because Vega is rocking the charts with performance and AMD needs something in the middle? Hard to tell but I hope for that. Especially if the price will be lower. really what I care about is the price and performance. Noise also matters but not as much and power draw well, slightly but not necessarily 1st thing I take a look at when getting a GPU. I just hope the competition will get more intense and we, customers, get good products for a decent price.
