Hey, just got my laptop 2 month ago, it's a ASUS Vivobook 16X, it has i5-12500H and RTX3050, it was working great up until the point, where it just randomly started power throttling like crazy, to the point where I thought it's a defected unit, since it would drop down to 5W on CPU and 15W on GPU. Service center returned it to me with "unit is ok, nothing was done". Nothing has changed, obviously, it's still throttling down to unusable state. Before returning it to service, I wanted to see if it's a software issue that I could find myself.
So far I've done:
- Installed HWiNFO64 to monitor sensors, temps are staying well under 90, mostly around 75 for both GPU and CPU;
- Updated my GPU driver;
- Installed Intel DTT;
The latter helped a lot, but it's still performing worse then it's used to. Specifically, this is what power draw graphs for GPU and CPU look like when I'm testing it in Overwatch 2:
Note, GPU jumps back and forth when I'm in game, but nothing out of order, I get locked 150 FPS no problems. But then my CPU slowly creeps to 1-3W mark, I get insane lag, then it resets back to 15W, framerate is ok, but the cycle repeats
