VGA fan making noise, what to do?

Lately the fan on my 5870 (this model to be specific) has been making rattling noises at higher speeds. Very annoying during games... what can I do to solve this problem? I can't afford a new cooler, so the only solution is to fix it the hard way.

First your link doesn't work Hat.

You can try a bit of light oil. Something like 3 in 1 or sewing machine oil. Don't recommend using vegetable oil as it seems to gum up after a couple of weeks.

Yep, just what I was going to suggest. Pull it apart and oil the fan, I prefer 3in1 oil myself. :toast:

I use white lithium grease, works great for me.

Also I'm sure you can purchase a new fan for it on eBay or something, just look around a bit.

sounds to me dust is getting in the bearing area
