I have a video card tester rig. I know there is a lot of software for windows. I use uningine supersposition for stress testing. But i need a much professional way to test the cards.
I can do only basic repairing (smd replace, measuring resistance, capacity, fets, basic video bios editing (ch341a) and a soldering station for reflow, risers etc but i dont have anything for reballing)

So is there a command line tool (can be linux) that checks the video ram or the gpu for errors? I dont need any fancy benchmark just display pass or failed or failed at video address...
Or when a video card ram is failing is there a way to edit the bios to skip the bad part (or the bad chip)? (A lesser vram card is still better than a totaly useless video card)

linking random exes when you were asking about linux sure makes me suspicious.

I'd caution anyone from running those until a virustotal or similar is done.

i dont even know what linux distro is good for testing. For now i use windows for the testing.

I still want to use linux, because i get a lot of bad card that not even work with loaded drivers.
Currently i have a Sapphire HD7870 Ghz edition that have artifacts in bios, and black screen in windows. The another one is a Club3d 7850 1gb that works without driver but random black screens after driver loaded. And i want to reflow them but i want know that the gpu or the mems needs to reflowed. If the memory is failing i dont want to waste time for gpu reflowing. These are low cost cards.

Reflowing is a temporary solution, you can simply bake them in the oven (~ ghetto reflow) in order to resurrect for a couple of weeks or so. A definitive solution is to replace the GPU or memory modules with working ones. For testing nvidia cards there is a tool called Mods/mats, it is easy to setup and transfer between different platforms. Even if the card doesnt give any image it can still perform testing in automated mode and save the results into a folder. For radeon there is no such thing afaik.

Also, keep in mind that linux drivers are somewhat basic and dont use the whole functionality of a card, so in the end to fully test the card you need windows.

I reflowed a few cards with an smd soldering station (yihua 898d) 230-290C, and i test them with 1-2 hours of furmark and then uningine superposition. None of them are returned to me (few months still working all cards). But i dont know any statistic how long do they last. few weeks, months, or a year. And there was a HP probook that i reflowed working fine for years.
reflow works ~50% success, or sometimes lowering the card boost is works too (i sold a 980Ti that works 100% stable on lower clocks)
i want to invest a full reballing station (cheap from aliexpress), and stat repairing much newer cards.

much newer cards.
Keep in mind you can't edit the bios post-maxwell. So things like lowering clocks at the bios level will be impossible. Other things like reflow may or may not work, as per usual.

Sorry for the false accusation. You just know how random exes are on the internet.
