Bought a new HDD off of Newegg.
Got it and it says Video HDD... perfect.
Can I put win 10 on it or is it Video only?
I bought it for a raid array but can use it for Vids too. 500 GB ought to get me a few hours of porn...uh, movies.:pimp:

What precisely says Video HDD. Are you saying the label on the drive itself or that it came with a partition that says video HDD.

Hard drives are not limited in the type of content they can store, regardless of if they are a NAS or enterprise drive.

Different hard drives are optimized for different workloads, but nothing will stop you from using it however you want.

As an example, WD Red drives are designed for 24/7 operation and are more vibration resistant, which makes them good for use in servers or a NAS. But you can get one and throw it in your PC, and it'll be fine. WD Black drives tend to forego cool and quiet operation for maximum performance, but you could use them in a NAS if you wanted to.

Plug it in and see what happens. If there's a video on it let us know how it is.

It could be the type used in surveillance systems that constantly record and overwrite content.

Yes, you should be able to use it just like a standard hard drive.

It's fine. It's the firmware is set up for heavy cashing and power saving. It will do a OS without any problems

ok, riddle me this, I have a 2 gig hard drive in a DVR. I have been saving it because the last one I tried to pirate wouldn't do anything.
What precisely says Video HDD. Are you saying the label on the drive itself or that it came with a partition that says video HDD.

yes, the label.

I wondered about that!
