its about 90% of what i want from a VR headset - very few tracking issues, controllers work 95% of the time with titles made for the vive and so on.

The only times you have issues is when you need to reach outside your viewpoint, because the controllers lock in place when the front mounted cameras lose sight - so in beat saber i could be looking at a tricky part to the right, and the left hand may lose tracking (its rare, but it happens) - and in some titles like pavlov VR, i cant seem to sprint because of a controller difference

that said, visual quality is great, refresh rate is great, controllers are comfortable and reponsive, headsets super easy to adapt between different people compared to the vive, and its very portable compared to the vive (no tracking stations, just a single hybrid cord for USB and HDMI)

I have pretty bad eye sight and must use glasses for proper daily function. Yet in VR I found little to no need for glasses. Most of the time it is fine.

I mean yeah if you want best of the best then Valve Index is the only option. Meanwhile these sub $200 VR sets even beat OG Vive and Rift in spec and actual performance.



No. Keep doing the same thing with the same technology is what get you obsolete. I would say keep making traditional 2D games is a “safe” way. That is perfectly fine. Basically that is what 99% of game developer does. Valve should not limit itself to JUST monitor based gaming. And I am super glad they became the main driving force of VR.

You either redefine an industry or die a slow and painful death when mass appeal games like fortnite becomes the mainstream.

It is actually OK I would say. When half life forst came out it was also not immediately liked by every diehard doom fans.

Did not know about those. I stopped following when headset makers claimed to push towards affordability (Occulus mainly) with their solution being to go "a la carte."

Also wow, some of you in here are so condescending. I drive an EV, and I'm really looking forward that other brands are acting on their course changes but I don't look down on people who drive ICE vehicles that have no interest/disinterest in EVs. I'm sorry that I don't readily jump into things especially things that can be considered as 'solutions looking for a problem.'

Oh man, thanks for posting this. My kids want to get into virtual reality.... (real reality sucks I guess) and the Rift is very expensive. The kids are younger, and I'd see them breaking this kind of gear and do not want to spend a lot of money to project them into artificial realities for a lot of money.
