Hi i was just wondering how much a fresh install of this would take up as i have just purchased a new laptop and chosen ultimate as my OS and since its a laptop i dont want this OS to eat up all my HDD space. It has a 160GB HDD.

My Vista Ultimate catch 31GBs WITH the programs ( Not games ) ....So i would say you need at least 15-20 just for the system.

damn i wasn't too bothered if it was only 10gb but now your reporting 15-20 im kinda worried. i really dont wanna lose 20gb of HD space on my laptop drive just on the OS. Anyone know if MS let you downgrade to home premium?

i didn't purchase a copy of vista. it comes pre-installed on the laptop i just ordered. obviousl;y i dont have the laptop yet or i wouldn't be asking ;)

I wouldn't worry about it.
You will still have over 100GB of space for stuff.
If you keep your system clean and offload stuff you don't regularly use, you should not have any problems.

At 15GB for the OS you are only losing about 5GB,as premium will use up about 10GB anyway.

Will you really use all the 160GB on your laptop?I have Ultimate installed on a 120GB partition on my desktop and still have 70GB approx free with all my apps I need installed.
