How "mobile" is your passport? How close are you to California (if we decide to send you for interviews/visits in the Bay Area)? How are air-fares in your country compared to US/Canada (because they're going to be on our coin)? How easy is it for us to send hardware into your country with minimal BS at the customs? These are some of the reasons why we're iffy with people outside North America.
urgh such a shame i do fail that litmus-test ins ome points most likely:
air fares are cheap as hell seeing as we're devaluated to insanity here(think Euro-trip where they go to eastern europe and live like kings for 1 dollar haha), passport movility, probably worldwide(specially to russia!) but we do require stupid VISA to the US(mild annoyance), but for EU and CIS, nothing. BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT our customs are full of shit, maximal BS guaranteed, steep import duties, legal roadblock for almost anything. And i do believe i have good english but my accent is probably thicker than an Hindi.
Such a loss for my fine Italian savant look :p

What about @cadaveca ?
Edit: Hilarious your reading now.

Being a father of four makes travelling to events not possible. I got everything else covered for sure though, so thanks for the vote of confidence. It really means a lot to me.

I've grown and learnt a lot while posting reviews on TPU, and I am very eager to see someone else step up and help us grow even more. ;)

I still find "based out of" sounding odd.
I am based in the US, that makes sense.
Based out of the US, out of it, as in, not in but out, yet it means you live in it.... idk seems illogical.

-------------------

It may be illogical, but it is common usage. For example, it is common in the military, airlines, and in expatriate / international business circles to ask someone "Where are you based out of?"

The implication of the usage is that it is recognized that the person has a base from which they travel, often for the purposes of carrying out their duties and doing business.

I'm not sure you will find it in any dictionaries or other such books, but that's what it has meant for a very long time... but, that would be showing my age.

On the other hand, enough people found it confusing, so I think the correction was warranted.

The problem with the written word is that it lacks the intonation of spoken voice. The tone of voice carries so much of the meaning of a message. You cannot just write something down the way that you would speak it out loud and then expect that the meaning will carry through.

------------------

!!! ADMINS !!! Please take down the age requirement. In fact, you may need to stop this ad now while you can. Someone is going to dob you in and I don't want to see one of my very favorite tech sites all tangled up in lawyer's fees instead of reporting on technology.

Get an attorney or similar professional familiar with doing business in North America before you post your next ad. I know it sucks, but it's reality.

Yes, that means more work vetting candidates, regardless of who you pick. And yes, I wanted to choke our lawyer when he told me that if a quadriplegic wanted to apply for a job shinnying up telephone poles that we should politely interview the person anyway regardless of who we hired.

In the end, if you happen to hire a barely legal hot-chick with big boobs, a short skirt, small tech brain, and fantastic presentation skills, probably no one in your demographic (which is still largely male, unfortunately) is going to care (probably not negatively at least) as long as the content is there. But, whatever subliminal, subconscious preferences you go for in the end, confessing them in an open ad isn't going to help you any.

----------------

Honesty is out of fashion in North America and very polite (and somewhat dishonest) discourse is all the rage... but some believe it makes for a fairer, more civil society (probably some truth there).

Remember in North America, "Caitlyn is BEAUTIFUL!" Don't dare say she looks like a bulldog-in-a-dress.

With that said, good luck finding someone with the pizzaz to make TPU even more famous. Maybe Caitlyn is available. Oh, that's right... too old.

I nominate @RCoon to be the face of TPU.

I cant think of anyone better suited for the job - top guy all around.

the guy works in IT, he writes for TPU/NPU, he keeps the forums clean and slaps bitches for TPU but above all, he likes a good whisky which is certainly something i can get down with.

I would just close all entries and throw your monies at that guy.

If he wears a raccoon suit its a shoe in :respect:

He'll capture the tech audience as well as the furries.

FTR, I started this post as a tongue in cheek reply but you know what? 30yrs old age limit, that's just fucked.

With casting calls like movie parts you can be as specific as you want. This might fall under that idk. If you need a 22 year old woman for your movie I'm sure you can refuse an 85 year old man.

What are the time commitments? 10 hours a week? 30 hours? What is this persons role? The face of tpu is not really descriptive. Are they going to be doing video portions of reviews, tpu news in video format, going to hardware events, or all of the above?

Good question. I already host my own youtube "How to" series. 800+ subscribers to my channel and 209K views since the start of the year. The questions would be on responsibilities, hours, and compensation (if any).

We're not sure yet, but it won't be a full-time job.

It would be very interesting if management share samples submitted by all applicants. Thus, we the people who are the readers, could vote for our favorite, although I suppose final decision will always be taken by those in charge. I'm not suggesting that this will become a reality show, but I'm sure it would be fun. In addition we are given the opportunity to choose who will be the face of this community in youtube. Community to which we all belong in one way or another.-

The reason we're asking them to e-mail us links to unlisted videos is because we want to spare them future regrets of their videos being in public domain.

And we're a dictatorship.

It's ok.

I was just curious about applicants skills, that's all.

As I said, final decision will always be taken by those in charge.

Could you share samples submitted after you have selected who won?

Why don't people just apply anyway, if you want to do it and you're really great at it, then the recommended requirements will be flexed accordingly.

That's pretty much how I scored my part-time job. They wanted someone doing medicine at university and I still applied despite doing international business & marketing and boom I was asked to come in for an interview and got the job on the same day.
