Want to upgrade, not so sure if PSU will stop me?

Hi guys,

im considering upgrading from my HD6950 to a R9 290x,

but will my PSU handle it?

Ive found two very different reviews online about power consumption about the 290, so just wondering about your thoughts. cheers.

Also im running PCI express 2.0, ive read elsewhere that this will not restrict the 3.0 graphics cards, is that true?

Doesn't make sense now that Maxwell is out. Just get a 970 instead, cheaper, and better performance, not to mention a tonne less power used and lower thermals.

The difference is probably because most measure total system power consumption with a watt-meter at the wall. Here w1z measures only the card itself.
