Pease delete this thread

I've not been here long but already enjoy all the usefull and interesting banter within the forum. I have no problems with individual members and believe everyone on here is as helpfull and polite. My only qarm with this forum is the censorship placed over discussion about katz or warez.

I mentioned katz in a post and was given a red card by wizzard. I'm hoping that this will be read fairly and hopefully someone will be able to explain just why the rules on warez are so.

I've read in countless post people suggesting the use of a keygen if a trial program is liked. How is talking about keygen different than pointing out a good place to download some software for free.

Utorrent is mentioned?

I think we should be able to talk freely and offer other people the best advice possible. And if that includes sharing a couple of Rapidshare links here and there then why not.

Thanks for your time.

I know I should not comment on the fact, but I think direct hotlinking should not be tolerated (be an immediate ban).

Not even a small discussion regarding this should be tolerated, I can respect W1zz for doing so though. He is just protecting his community. :)

If you disagree with moderation contact the mod.
If you see stuff you think shouldn't be allowed there is a report button. Linking to rapidshare is not forbidden unless you're linking to illegal or questionable stuff. Complaining publicly like this won't help you out in any way. "I've read" is nice, though we're not gonna scroll through thousands of topics to find out what you're referring to, like I said there is a report button. Use it.

I say if you want to talk about warez and katz... Go to the "wareznkatz.com" forum, I'm sure they wouldn't mind. Normally when you speak of "warez" you're talking about something illegal, otherwise, you would just say "software." Some people don't mind talking about stealing things, while others do.

Utorrent... I use that all the time to download LEGAL things, like game demos... I see no problem discussing utorrent. It's like discussing guns, guns are legal, but shooting people with them generally isn't, if you catch my drift. Just like right now, we are talking about warez, and it's not even a problem, because we're not talking about different ways to STEAL them.

Well yes its not hard to deduct from what I have posted I am talking about sharing information about illegal downloads. Alot of people do it. Most people couldn't make you believe everything on there computer is 100% legal, no MP3 downloads from limewire ect.

One of my quesitons was, why is it ok to bost the use of a keygen but not a direct link to a hacked peice of software?

Banjoman, it seems mentioning anything you dont agree with puts you in deep state of agression. This is a forum after all, free spech and all that bollocks. Anyways I was asking members how they felt about not being able to talk about warez and so on. Thanks for your opinion all the same.

I don't see why your hammering on about using a report button. Its pretty obvious that if I'm going on about being able to talk about file sharing I won't have a problem with using keygens.

if you talk about using a keygen or how you used one its your personal thing. but if you give a link to warez some pissed off company might take TPU to court and sue _us_ for a lot lot of money. dont forget that if you brag about your 10 TB of mp3s here and some company brings a court order to give out your ip, we may have to give it to them.

if you really have to find warez use google.. pretty much everything can be found there easily

Yes, but when you signed up and hit that "I agree" button it means you agree to all rules and the disclaimer mentioned.

EDIT: Thank you W1zz. I totally agree with you and respect you!

Everyone has their voice... But, I don't know anyone here that is a returning member all the time, ever want to take this place down... The one thing that we also have to look at is the fact when you google any type of review for a product, and TPU has done that review, 9/10 times its on the first page, and They come here for it...

Hey man, as far as I am aware if you choose too, you can talk about this with whoever you want via PMing, just don't do it publicly.

It's all about protecting TPU, which has a growing media status, and as such linking to or advising people to pirate software is unacceptable.

Peteyboi, I remember the last time you linked something to Warez, it was a link to the cracked software and not a keygen. Since you're new to this forum let me keep this in a friendly tone. Your freedom of expression is overridden completely by TPU's commitments to the tech community of being a no-nonsense group of individuals of some of the highest standards of intellect. We're not Faceb**k where you communicate with random people, learn random things and do random things. We're here for a purpose that is "collective conciousness" that we help eachother to the highest extent possible while staying on the right side of things. I've seen many forums, good ones, collapse due to the trivial things their members indulged in. Which is why the people who work behind the scenes of this forum (W1z, the mods, staff) make sure the website and the forum serves its purpose. Where it comes to doing "creative" things like modding a cheap HD2900 Pro card to an expensive HD2900 XT, there's nothing illegal about it and we share our creativity on things like that but you can't do "creative" things with products you're not supposed to, like proprietary software. Get the point.

Coming to mods. The part about TPU mods is that they're not those cops who fly around kicking nuts etc. They're not robots. They deal with you in the most humane way in the begining, once you become familiar, they reciprocate your every action. It's all give and take. Crying foul about someone deleting your warez link in a public thread was very trivial on your part. You shouldn't have done this. This tread is accessible even to random browsers (guests) who judge the quality of forums and then choose to join in.

Are we a bunch of stiff IT sticks? No. We can be the most humane people, then again we reciprocate you. A certain moderator takes a light tone with me, I reciprocate that. When it comes to "business", I talk business and so does everyone else in this forum. But to vent our humane side the General Nonsense part is where we not only take a breather but genuinely entertain ourselves.

Your equating Warez to uTorrent: Warez, more than a P2P is infamous for being the biggest names in IT crimes, when it comes to illegal use of intellectual property. uTorrent on the other hand is but a BitTorrent client which has no prescribed use. uTorrent is not responsible for you downloading an illegal copy of a movie but the website that's acting as the trackker is. I use my BT client (Azureus) to share family videos with my people in the US. Get the point? Now don't push yourself far with this issue. stick to our protocols and you'll benefit more than by not sticking to it or crying foul at it. The people who run this website/forum did their homework well.

^No your post containing the link read something like "I like ***32 antivirus, you can get it for free here <link>"

That was more than enough for any mod to delete it.

I think all that needs to be said on this subject has been done so, so I'd like to suggest closing this thread. Everyone +W1zz has spoken, and Peteyboi has acknowledged that its not needed/wanted here, so we should just drop it and move on.

Once the government completes its supercomputer that searches the ENTIRE internet for ANY sort of illegal activity, you'll be sorry... I'm sure they already have numerous machines that search for "terrorists" on the internet. And it wouldn't surprise me if big brother has been watching the whole net for years, it's entirely possible. I try not to type anything incriminating, you never know who is watching.

naw - all wrong - the govm't is working on tactical neural implants for the human population - easier to keep track of us, and should terrorists strike, we can be switched into "Duke Nukem Mode" and start kicking alien-ass whilst being all out of gum.
