Award-winning studio Owlcat Games is thrilled to reveal the first gameplay trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - the first cRPG set in the legendary grim darkness of the far future of Warhammer 40,000. Set to be released on PC and consoles, the game features turn-based combat and is being produced in close collaboration with Games Workshop.

Owlcat unveiled a new gameplay trailer during the PC Gaming Show 2023 Preview, giving viewers a taste of what it truly means to be a Rogue Trader. The launch of the trailer is also heralding the opening of the Steam and GOG wishlists for the eagerly anticipated title. The fabulous Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader collector's box revealed on the show includes an 8-inch painted figure of Navigator Cassia Orsellio, hardcover art book, Warrant of Trade that you can personalize with your name, Rogue Trader banner, and sticker pack. Together with physical items you will receive a digital version of the game in a selected store with the pack of various in-game goodies and access to Alpha and Beta versions. The Collector's Edition is available for pre-order via owlcat.games' website.

The Collector's Edition contents:
  • Cassia Statue (8 in/20 cm)
  • An exclusive 8-inch collectible figure of Cassia Orsellio, Navigator and noble companion of the Rogue Trader. Although Cassia looks youthful, her extraordinary powers strengthen the party immensely.
  • Art Book
  • Read about the creation of the game and see the concept art and final hi-res artwork for characters, environments, and various equipment in this hardcover art book.
  • Warrant of Trade
  • The Imperial Warrant of Trade describes and sanctions the solemn duties and immense privileges of a Rogue Trader and their descendants.
  • Sticker Pack
  • "Fight for the Imperium", "Success / Prosperity", "Your Emperor Needs You!" - you will find these and other atmospheric slogans on sticker replicas of Imperial propaganda posters. Look out for the posters in various in-game locations and decorate your possessions with the matching sticker set.
  • Rogue Trader Cloth Banner
  • This large banner is made from thick fabric and is a close replica of the coat of arms of House von Valancius.

Fans can support the game right now by purchasing a copy of the Founder's Pack and become a part of the team behind Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. Those who decide to support the developers early will gain access to the Alpha and Beta versions of the game, help the team to shape the experience with their feedback, and receive a set of unique rewards and items available only to early supporters.
The Founder's Packs are available via owlcat.games' website.

About Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader
Players will take on the role of a Rogue Trader, a scion of an ancient dynasty of daring privateers who reign over their own merchant empire and explore the fringes of Imperial space with the blessing of the Emperor Himself. Thanks to their Warrant of Trade - the Rogue Trader is endowed with privileges and power beyond imagination as well as the task of expanding the borders of the Imperium. At their disposal is a gargantuan voidship of immense strength and innumerable personnel ready to follow any undertakings of the leader. Show your subjects mercy or disdain, stay faithful to the Emperor or consort with enemies of Mankind - every decision and every act of the Rogue Trader sends ripples throughout entire star systems, changing the in-game world and those who inhabit it.

The action will unfold in the Koronus Expanse, a dangerous and unexplored region on the far frontiers of the Imperium of Man. Many explorers have fallen victim to this dangerous place and never returned.
Remarkable and sophisticated companions are one of the pillars of cRPGs and Rogue Trader is no exception. A mighty Space Marine, a mercurial Aeldari Ranger, or even a courageous Sister of Battle armed with bolter and ardent prayers are just a few of the many characters that will join the Rogue Trader during your adventures.

I like Owlcat. Pathfinder One and Two sucked many hours out of me but there were bugs that took time to get sorted.

Graphics look a bit dated for a 2023 game. Concept is cool, W40K mixed with X-com.

Dunno... if they're going to repeat a cRPG like their latest Pathfinder, I'll say no...
What an awful mess that is; and what strikes most is that they've repeated (and made fár worse) mistakes already made in Kingmaker.

Different franchise so I'll hope they reset their brains and don't overcomplicate things to the point the game isn't a game anymore.

OMG Owlcat Games.... hope they don't suck at WH40k like they did with their latest D&D games. P:WotR was stupidly overengineered towards powercreep in the end-game. The story becoming quite boring around the middle of the game. Who cares about a massive number of classes/class combinations if you have to play a certain class to be able to hit or penetrate magic immunity on the higher difficulty settings.

So this will most likely go down in history as just another (at best) mediocre WH40k-game. Something this brand seems to be cursed to be by the Dark Gods.

Ehh, 300 for this CE? Owlcat still seems to be plagued with some issues...
The game itself, though? Should be good, maybe even more than good.

How many are there?
Right now? A LOT, most of them crap, since GW was doing really stupid things with their licences. However - the last few years have been changing that, with very obvious path upwards.
Space Marine 2 is coming, Darktide obviously, Total War series for Fantasy, Mechanicus, etc.

...and let's not even begin about Dawn of War... what was so cool as a rather standard formula RTS with similarities to Warcraft 3 (hero units, micro heavy), then got a third installment... oh boy. Shallow doesn't even cover it properly, you need a microscope to discover anything more than a meat grinder in that game. Looks pretty though.

I'm still puzzled why Relic built what they built there in DoW3.
Also, I need a Total War 40K in my life. CA, you know the Emperor wills it.

I want a new Dawn of War that combines mechanics of DoW 1 and 2, and man those games had excellent campains that could be played in co-op as well, so great, colouring your own army etc.
Just add "all" races in one game through expansion packs and go.

also I would love for a Tower Defense game in the 40k universe, Dungeon Defender / Sanctum Style.
