Buy plenty of used stuff myself and always test it regardless of the source. I've had friends buy PC parts from another friend and when I go to test it out, RAM has errors or the motherboard audio doesn't work.

This isn't unique to used either, new products can have issues. Best to validate the functionality of every part in the PC before it's put into use and save yourself the headaches later.

i am buying used hardware since 20+ years and never had one part fail-lucky me.

and i even have no prob with mining hardware because most of them is run underclocked + undervolted.
