I haven't seen a thread on this but I would like to clear things up before this issue does come up.
XFX Has added Warranty Stickers to the Heat sink Brackets on the 6870 and 6850 video cards.
Here is a picture....
There are two of these stickers on the back bracket.... Over the Screws needed to be removed so that you can remove the Heat sink. The Stickers (Labels) state that if removed all warranties are null and void.
Well this is true.... For everyone In the world!!!!!
EXCEPT FOR NORTH AMERICA!
North America includes Canada and the USA. So sorry to everyone else who is not in North America (Because I think that policy stinks) But I just wanted to post it here to make everyone here aware. Because I saw this myself and got a little worried about it.
Luckily I live in the US.
But It does seem that this rule can still be by passed by talking to XFX Support and telling them what your intentions are and why you want to remove these Warranty Stickers. So if you live outside NA... Not all is lost.
