yeah the community for this was, from what i've read, quite large and has since dwindled down a bit. personally had this really been marketed better worldwide since day one i would imagine its support wouldn't be nearly as dismal as it is right now in terms of players compared to other titles that come at a cost and force upgrades yearly. i found hosting for a paltry $20 a month and my posting this here was to see what sort of response it received from the TPU crowd.. thinking of getting a system up and going provided the feedback i get here and elsewhere supports such being a worthwhile idea/investment.

on another note my internal "server" for my office just got a healthy RAM upgrade from 192 to 448MB! my god the performance :p!

- Robert (PmR)DeathInJune

well if someone is willing to setup a server for it then i would be willing to play on it!

This looks good. I'll have to DL when I get home tonite. Looks like a mix of Jet Set Radio, and Quake. Gotta see how it runs on the 9600pro/sempy 2800+ box.

well at the lowest end here at my office it is running on an Intel P4 2.4/Rambus based system with a 32MB GeForce4 MX 440 just fine. as for your system it should work fine considering the specs i saw in your profile. i haven't tried this yet on any CPU running sub 2.0GHz but i would imagine it would handle on anything over 1GHz (mayby lower) just fine considering the requirements of the Quake 2/3 engines:

Quake II: 90 MHz processor, 16MB RAM
Quake III: Pentium II 233 MHz or AMD 350 MHz K6-2 processor or Athlon processor, 64MB RAM, 3D graphics accelerator with full OpenGL support/8MB+, 100% DirectX 3.0 or higher compatible sound card

I'll make one called TPU, yall gonna join?
dedicated?

12x10 runs pretty at full settings. Default speed for the mouse was incredibly low though, my fault for not playing with those settings. Definately a good find for a little quick action that's quite different from the standard FPS. Mastering the special wall jumps/slides and stuff is gonna be a little difficult. I may have to go boot up my dreamcast to get the feel for JetSet Radio again...

yeah the default speed for the mouse is just way to low for myself as well and that was one of the first things i went on the hunt for to change. one of the things i find the most appealing about this title is that it's ridiculously simple to setup (both at the server/client level) and get going with coupled with the low req's which is why i've been thinking of a dedicated system if i could get enough support going both within my own group and elsewhere. so far the feedback here has me leaning on doing it but i am in the process of moving into a new place with my GF and priorities are with that right now..

just to ask: how many of you can consider this a weekly thing in your list of FPS's? would you consider promoting it?

chances are if the entire world of feedback is positive i'll be spinning something up in early Jan..

with any luck my moving this past weekend will be fully completed here soon (got everything to put away/organize) so that i can start looking into getting quality hosting for this setup. so far about 20-25 (from this post, my own gaming "clan" and another in the [H]ard|Forum) seem to really believe in this being a frequented title during the week which combined with word of mouth should make this worthwhile.

back to work...

well it all depends on the quality of the server, the skill of the players and fun of the competition. i personally find this to be a good looking DM/CTF title that is fun to play. right now suck factor that i see everywhere is over the existing servers and their ping times being the core issue sending people elsewhere.

well the move would be over now but some snags occurred which have setback my plans for a dedicated server a bit. lady of the house broke her left Ankle and we had to put down our 14 year old Cat due to her Kidney's failing.. rough path into 2008 but hopefully everything will be cleared through in a couple of weeks.

i get some high ping but it dosnt bother me ill play if anyone wants a game just name a server and ill be in honestly if it had been marketed right we might have known about it earlier most of the time there are 1 or 2 games to play in it

im not that good but ill play even if i come last its just for a laugh or a bit of fun in my case

personally i pissed about with the options and settings first before playing it
