Warzone Maxing my GPU at 99% load

Hi!

So I built my PC a few years ago and a mid-ish- price. I stream on the same PC and so far I can easily stream while pulling 150fps in fortnite, no issues with league, or minecraft, etc...

I recently started playing warzone and I have not been able to stream at all. Not only that, with my in gamesettings all at low or off, no stream, no others tabs open at all, only playing warzone, I can hardly pull 100fps in warzone and no matter what my GPU is maxed out at 99% load.

My Specs are:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600
FANS: NZXT AER 2 RGB Fans
MOBO: Gigabyte B450M DS3H
RAM: 16GB - IDK
SSD: Ushkin Source 500GB
HDD: 2TB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

I know this is by no means a power house... but I haven't had issues with other games. Any advice? I would like to be able to stream this game well. Or at least... have it just play well lmao.

Thank you in advance for all of the help!

Ive found my computer has issues with COD in general sometimes and im unsure why. I remember back in season 1 when Crash, Shipment, and Vacant came out, my computer did absolutely fine until I got the Vacant map. No matter what I did, my frames would not go above 25 FPS and it just brought my system to it's knees. I still get stutters and jitters here and there and I have no idea why.

Thank you for the quick reply!

So am i wrong to think that I need to upgrade my GPU to be able to successfully play and stream this game with no issues? If so, could you (or anyone) tell me which GPU you would recommend? and if you think it would bottle neck with my other hardware?

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
I'll bet it is a lack of CPU threads/power...(?). The GPU SHOULD ALWAYS run around 99% so that likely isn't the issue.

On my 16c/32t CPU, I disable HT (so 16c/16t), and it will use every core equally. I show around 70% CPU use on COD Warzone (the BR game). I'd bet your CPU use is higher than that.....

EDIT: I've seen performance reviews that don't show a performance hit down to 4c/4t, however... so, not sure. But the GPU should be at 99%.

Interestingly enough, when running warzone, my cpu is only around 55-65% use, while my GPU is at 99%. Other games my gpu usage is much lower

Odd...

Yeah, GPU should always be close to 100%. If it isn't you don't have enough CPU horsepower for the game/resolution/settings, etc. The lower the resolution and settings, the more the CPU is involved.

I'm not entirely sure at this time.

I've shared my experience with the game, but looking around at testing, it may just scale and use all the cores... no idea.

Yeah, GPU should always be close to 100%.

This. With the assumption that Vsync is off. If it is on, or you have a framerate limit set, then the GPU should not necessarilly be pegged at 100% usage, but otherwise this is expected behavior.

Based on that chart, even a Ryzen 3 3200G should have a chance.

But post #2 reporting no more than 25 FPS? That's insanely slow, like I would expect on a Kaveri, LOL.:laugh:

I know.. I've said as much in later posts in this thread... and linked a performance chart in the same post.

Try changing and setting core affinity for the game.
Use 4 cores to game and two to stream, see if that helps.
Open Task Manager then the "Processes" tab, then right-click the program you want to change the CPU core usage on and click "Set Affinity" from the menu.

No, CPU usage is CPU usage, it's not indicative of anything in particular. It's illogical to assume a game must use the GPU/CPU 100%.

I gave this game a try recently in the battle royale mode. I found cpu usage is around 40% and gpu usage around 15% with max settings on 3440x1440 (specs are up to date)

I'd say check drivers and see if anything is in the background. It's gotta be a bug with the game or some setting. If need be I can use my girlfriend's desktop since she has a 4790k and 1070 to compare with.

No. Absolutely no on everything in your post. OP doesn't need a 2080Ti.

SLI is more or less dead. Might as well wait for the 3080/90.

Or y'know, stream the game with his existing 1070, since that should work fine. I can stream RDR 2 on my 1660 TI, you can definitely stream Warzone on a 1070.

No you need a different game, your rig is fine for mid range gaming.

COD on PC Is known to be shit in terms of resource hog. Its a tradition. If you want to spend money on the bad optimization of devs... by all means.

He's getting 100 fps. I don't really see what the problem is. It's a 1070, not a RTX Titan. 100 fps is plenty to stream, he just needs to reign in his expectations, he's not going to get 200 fps in modern games with an upper mid-tier videocard from 3 years ago.

What is doing the encoding when you stream? CPU, or GPU?

For him, I'd assume CPU. When I stream with my laptop I use my GPU though. But my 1660 TI supports NVENC, his 1070 doesn't.

Ahhh, my bad, thought NVENC was newer than that. He's probably using his GPU as well then.

Ahhh, my bad, thought NVENC was newer than that. Should be using his GPU then, since surely NVENC is the way to go.
NVENC is only an option if there is headroom left over from the game. If his GPU is maxed then NVENC won't be an option.
