Waterblock for skt775

Hi,

After hitting 4.36ghz at a painful 63c load temp, i'm looking to get some watercooling in there.

What do you guys recommend? I was looking at the thermaltake setup in the reviews, and that looks pretty good. I definatly would like something with the external radiator.

Anyway, thanks for any suggestions.

the corsair cool uses a type of swiftech 6002 block, thats and option as well as the TDX which i have, but dont use on account i have phase change. Id go buy parts seperatly and put em together, you have to put em together anyway.

You are lucky my 3.2E at 3.8 ghz idles at 73c lol with a thermalright. xp90c

Yeah, you should remount your heatsink with a small blob of AS5 in the middle of your processor. If that doesn't work, your temp sensor is reading wrong.

If you haven't bought a setup already, I'd say take this:

Swiftech Storm (I don't really like their "Apology")
Laing D5 pump
Thermochill PA120.3
Tygon tubing

I'm not gonna have enough money to go into water cooling for 3 weeks minimum, so i'm still thinking things over. I definatly need a new case when i get watercooling. I've completely gone off my acrylic one... it's a pain in the ass to keep clean, and it looks like crap when it's dusty and covered in very fine scratches that catch the light.

EDIT:

Wow, that looks like an amazing block!! It's a little more expensive than i'd planned on, but i guess that's what you pay for such a high end cooler. I like the thermaltake radiators, and i'll pick a decent pump. I've never seen a design like that before, and it looks very impressive!

Do you have it, and if so, what temps are you getting?

Ive mounted the heatsink like 10 different times different new paste each time as5 and some stuff that came with thermalright xp-90c. Well the processor is hot though because i can feel some warmth from the fines i got a 90mm fan but not very high quality. Sensor may be off but these damn s478 prescotts run hot as hell.

1)dont waste money on "kits"

2)temps measured by anything other than a thermal probe/pyrometer or w/e are USELESS.

3)take your time in planning and building ur loop.

Where exactly on the motherboard/heatsink would you put the thermalprobe/pyrometer?

i have mine:

1)back of mobo behind cpu skt

2)base of N/B hsf

3)backside of gfx card pcb behind gpu

4)centre of case behind cd drive

all temps measured with thermalbreak hardcano 12

you can position a thermal probe on the side of the heatspreader on some cpu's, but the 775 socket doesn't have a heatspreader that's raised enough to do this easily, so i think i'll attach it to the copper base of my hsf. There's plenty of room, since it's just 4 heat pipes in the corners, but i expect on that the temps will be 2-3c below the real temp.
