What's it like? I heard they are the best RMA dept. when it comes to turnaround time and allows advance rma. Anyone that has had experience with them, please chime in.

What's it like? I heard they are the best RMA dept. when it comes to turnaround time and allows advance rma. Anyone that has had experience with them, please chime in.

I have a drive that I RMA'ed to them a week ago for one of our backup drives at work. I got an email this morning saying they received it. They have specific packaging guidelines, but they update you every step of the way. It's pretty easy since you can start the RMA process without having to speak with a rep. Honestly, the process is pretty simple and WD makes it easy.

Had a friend send a laptop hard drive in they sent the wrong one. He had a Black they send him a blue and if that was not bad enough they sent a SATA instead of a IDE. They did however get the size right lol.

I RMA'd a drive with them about a year ago and was very pleased with the service. I did everything according to their procedures, sending back a bad 750GB drive and quickly got back a refurb 1GB Caviar Black, which is still working fine. :)

sent ALOT of drive, always been fast. Sent a 1TB 32mb Black, received a 64mb cache 1TB.

I have confidence all the way into WD drives and RMA is really excellent!!

I've sent a lot of WD VelociRaptor drives from my RAID 5 arrays. There RMA department is great and fast. You can't beat that 5 year warranty. :toast:

No you can send in another box, as long as the hard drive is well secure, in an anti-static bag, and you have the RMA number on the box. You an always ask them if it's okay !

If you don,t have the invoice, if the hard drive is an OEM, you can check the warranty here: http://websupport.wdc.com/warranty/...738&custtype=end&requesttype=warranty&lang=en

With the serial number (the warranty comes with the fabrication date or the invoice) :)

They have great RMA service. I had a older 400GB 5,400RPM sata drive that died so I tried to RMA. Come to find out that it was out of warranty BUT I had bought it less than 3 years ago and the drive suppose to have a 5 year warranty SO I emailed them and they adjusted the warranty date to the purchase date and I sent it in. Within a week or so I get a package from WD back and instead of the older 400GB replacement, they sent me a brand new WD 500GB 7,200 RPM Blue drive!

In the end GREAT SERVICE!

Did you buy it as a external drive or internal? I know they have a deal were if it was originally installed in a enclosure that you MUST include it due to the serial number being registered as a external drive.

OEM should not matter

ive had nothing but amazing experiences with wd rma's. Sent in a few 150gb raptors, got back 300gb velociraptors. Sent in 500gb external, got back 1tb external, sent in 1tb black 32mb cache, got back 1tb 64mb cache. they have always seem to one up everything ive sent in and turn around times have been great.

When you give an Invocie to WD' it you want the purchase date as warranty and not the farication date.

Like if the HDD has been built in March 2012, and you bought it in April, the warranty will be from March until you show them the proof you bought it in April, that's it ;)

Yea thats the great thing about WD. They will honor the warranty date by manufacturing date plus if you have the invoice were you recently purchased it (EVEN SECOND HAND). They will adjust this date accordingly.

Forgot to update you guys! Got the hdd last week and they paid for all shipping expenses. Got a 1TB Black 64mb sataIII back about 6 days later, sent in a 32mb sataII.
