Weird BSOD problem

With my eVGA p55 classified mobo purchased a month ago, (second hand deal, only cost me $150 for a never used one)
when I pass a certain degree of overclocking, for instance, pass 3.8Ghz with HT or 4Ghz without HT, my rig will first boot with a BSOD saying IRQ mismatch something with 3~4 error codes then reboot, and then the second time it will boot into windows perfectly, and it is perfectly stable inside the OS. Up to 4.1ghz with HT or 4.35 without
And if i restart it, it won't running into BSOD, but if I shut it down then switch it back on it will BSOD again, on the first time of booting up. any clues? It's driving me crazy. Thanks in advance!

are you using the standard heat sink? and do ya know if the seller used 1 ?

reason i ask is that if they did use the standard cpu cooler , they might have bent the mother board installing it (i think i did with mine)

as mine used to be ok until i did a slight overclock ,then it used to freeze up

saddly mine was a 1366 mobo

Hi

you could try runnning your Gskill at default 2000Mhz or relax the timings a little; see if it makes a difference

or try higher rated mem F3-17600CL9T-6GBPS default 2200Mhz

nb: it may also be; the mobo as it is rev-1, glitches such as these are usualy smoothed out by rev-2 of 3 or with a bios update with better mem support

Bios is up to date, and it's not memory related. But thanks for the ideas..

some chip of the mobo does not run well at cold boot, correct?

might need some voltage tweaking...

BIOS does some checkings during a cold boot (like device listing for IRQ arrangement)...

I have had a P55 Asus... core and IMC are the only I touched, just under 1,35/1,38 V and 4000 is easy, but with another processor (i5). I would search for OC instructions for your i7

Something you will learn is that the bios error codes on a BSOD will sometimes lead you to what you need to change.

If you can, try to provide us with the first 0X000..... code.

With an IRQ error I would guess its ram or IMC, but it is just that, a guess!

there were like, 4 error codes, I usually look up for these codes, (as if there were only 1 of them)
and with 4 of them I thought im running into serious problem, and I know how to narrow down the range of potential problematic parts, its just this time is so.. weird, cold boot always resulting a BSOD, reboots are fine, and system is 120% stable. I'll report back tomorrow if the problem is solved or not.. gonna go to bed now. thanks for all !
