I've been using a gts 250 lately because i wanted to reapply thermal paste and change the thermal pads on my gtx 570. Today i've finished the whole procedure and i've swapped from the gts 250 to my gtx 570.

The gts 250 was attached to the 1st Pci-E x16 slot as usual so i removed it and put in the gtx 570. Started up the computer but the "no signal" message appeared on the screen.

The computer booted normally though because i heard the windows start up sound from the speakers.

I shut it down and reseated the gtx 570, restarted but the "no signal" message still appeared.

Shut it down again, cleared cmos, checked again all the connections (power to the gpu, dvi cable) restarted, same message appeared!

Finally i've changed Pci-E slot and put it to the 3rd one (which is also x16, mobo has a nf 200 chipset) started up and everything worked!

So my big question is how is possible that the gts 250 is working flawlessly on the first pci-e slot (played some games too in the last few days without any problems) but gtx 570 doesn't even give a signal to the monitor?

If the slot was dead, the gts 250 shouldn't be working?

Thanks in advance for your help!

drivers might do this. You can easily downgrade with current drivers in a rig, but when you go to a newer card, the drivers will have issues at times.

If you haven't tried this yet, drop the 250 in the first slot and remove the drivers. Once that is done, power down and swap the cards to the 570 and see if it works, should use the windows default driver and make it to the desktop so you can install new drivers, or the same driver again.

The fact is that i don't even get to see the bios post screen so i don't think it's a driver issue! Any ideas?

Bump! Does anyone have any ideas about this problem? I found it at least weird that my GTX 570 ceased to work on the first pci-e slot while my GTS 250 works! And by the time i've just changed pci-e slot the GTX 570 worked without any problems! Could it be a pci-e power issue? Maybe bent pins?

I had similar problems on one of my two 570's. though i couldnt remember for the love of my life what i did. i assume your 570 has fans on the cooler, do they spin up while the pc is turned on?

try a different port on the card and monitor, if not, switch back to the old card and remove all video drivers (there is software that will clear it for you) and then plug the card in and boot her up. i assume you've also tried setting bios defaults as well?
