Weird Ryzen 5800x3D TPM Issue

Hi All,

So, I'm needing to get some advice on a weird problem I'm experiencing with one of my PC's. The machine in question was given to me by a friend and it had a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU slotted into a MSI B450 Tomahawk Max II mobo. The machine seemed to be working with no issues until I was subsequently given a (new) Ryzen 7 5800x3D chip and swapped the CPU's out. After I did the CPU swap out, the machine experienced issues with TPM not being properly detected. For example, I would go into Windows Security -> Device security and it would randomly switch between having no option for "Security Processor" visible and saying that the device doesn't meet the requirements for standard security and then it would display the Security Processor option and say the device did meet requirements for enhanced security. It also says under the status for the Security Processor "Attestation: Not Supported".

I've tried flashing the mobo to the latest BIOS available for it and also reset TPM but neither option made a difference and I still experience the issue. Also have reset the BIOS all to defaults but that didn't improve the situation either.

I was wondering if anyone here has seen this issue and knows of a way to actually fix it? If you do, would very much appreciate any advice on this and if further info is needed, just ask.

Insert old cpu, boot windows and clear tpm. shutdown. Then boot to uefi and clear tpm state from there as well. Shutdown.

Swap in new cpu, re-enable tpm, boot to windows. This should fix it.

Ahhh damn ok so I'll need to swap back in the old CPU. Annoying but I'll have to give it a go and see if that actually fixes the problem.

So an update @DirtyDingusMcgee, I did exactly that but the issue continues to present itself. When I go into the Security Processor section in Windows Security, I still see it reporting the "Attestation" as Not Supported

What Security app says is incredibly unreliable - MS broke the UI with 22H2 and it’s still half-borked. Far more of importance is what the tpm.msc tool says. Just type it into search, it’ll be there.

I disable all that tpm crap in bios and windows iso modified to remove that garbage.

That sucks man. That's how i've done it. Could just disable TPM altogether.
