Just curious to see what software members use. This could give some insight for some who don't know what to get. You can add a small comment on each app if you wish.
I'm a gamer 1st. Apps come in second. My games list is massive compared to the software i use. But we all need some important apps for everyday use and whatnot. Here's my current apps for now.
Anti-Virus:
Eset Nod 32 (3.0.694)
So long Norton. Nuf said
Web Browsing:
Internet Explorer 8.
It comes included with Windows and i don't have issues with it.
Email:
Windows Mail
It may be slow but I'm not in a hurry anyway.
Music & Video:
Windows Media Center
Come with Vista. I don't really need anything else. It's cool to watch TV too.
Office Suite:
Microsoft Office 2007 (student/Teacher Edition).
It was only 100$, Why pay an extra 300$ just to get Outlook?
Graphics suite:
CorelDraw Graphics suite X4.
Adobe's suite is just too expensive. Corel was the next logical choice.
Image Browser:
Faststone Image viewer 4.0.
I was a fan of Acdsee until i came across Faststone.
Web Authoring:
Net objects Fusion 8.
It's old but for what i do, it's sufficient.
Defragging:
Raxco's Perfectdisk 10 (build 129).
I don't mind paying for such a good product.
System tools (File & Registry cleaner):
Ccleaner & Jv16 Powertools 2009
Cleaner is fast & free. Jv16 takes care of the rest.
CD/DVD Burning:
Ashampoo Burning Studio 9.21.
I can't complain about this thing. It works great.
Zipping:
7Zip 9.10 beta.
Lightweight & free. Does more than i need.
Password Manager:
Keepass 2.09
Another great freeby. I could never access some of my accounts if it was'nt for this thing. I have some ridiculous and impossibly complex passwords.
Data Recovery:
Recuva 1.35
Yes. Deleting something important can happen especialy when you use "shift+del".
I skipped a few but this is most of it.
