NFS Heat is actually a lot of fun, mainly at night when the cops are active. But if you get busted you lose a pile of winnings and all the rep for that night which adds a good incentive to not get caught.

It's demo week on steam. So far I've played I am Future, Tribe: Primitive Builder demo, and Shadows of Doubt.
The last one is the best, so far anyway. You play a detective (PI), find clues, solve crimes, break-in places, avoid detection, and all the while the world around you just keeps going.
Actions have consequences, etc. etc. Visually it's like Teardown or Cloudpunk but if you don't mind that, and you like solving crimes than check it out. Free to play for 90 minutes or so.

20230207211340_1.jpg

Edit: Pictures are first 4 from Shadows of Doubt, next 2 from Planet of Lana (side scrolling platform), 3 from Sons of Valhalla (side scrolling hack'n'slash).
Still to play: Broken Arrow, Corsairs Legacy, and Voidtrain

I have been playing a lot of Youtube lately. I blame lex for introducing me to one of the only two youtubers I will actually go back 10 years and watch most of their videos.

Edit: Yakuza Kiwami is free on Luna this month with prime, so I will be moving over there for a bit.

Dating simulators?

not really a dating simulator imo, i mean yeah i guess it is, but honestly i was laughing the whole time just because its so fucking goofy. (this is probably because I am on the spectrum) lol

but no it was a good game overall, I enjoyed it honestly.

@LifeOnMars I still don't know if I did Paige's story right, edit: my spoiler tag didn't work, nm no big deal

If he hasn't told you about John Michael Godier yet, I recommend him. 10/10 also read his books, they are also 10/10, The Salvagers is especially good.

I was referring to the Failrace channel, but I will be sure to check him out too.

Failrace does some racing and some challenges in various games, mainly BeamNG, Forza, and GTA 5 lately.
I blamed Lex because he posted the "survive the hunt" videos in his profile.

Currently playing through Serious Sam Fusion via Steam already completed SS1,SS2 SS4 and currently id say 80% of way through SS3 just good fun and dont have to really think apart from the odd puzzle, if u like Duke then SS is very similar.

One of my all time fav nonsense fun shooter serie, I usually re visit/play First and Second Encounter every few years and I still love it.
SS 3 is alright too but it takes some time for the heat to pick up.
SS 2 is more like goofy fun thing of its own and I guess its not for everyone tho I had my fun with it just think of it as a side game/take.

SS 4 I'm yet to finish actually cause I wasn't a big fan of all that chatter between the 'team mates', idk it just felt weird in a 'main' SS game to me but I will give it another chance at some point cause it feels kinda wrong not finishing it after playing all of the other games multiple times.

Also this serie has a few of my fav game soundtracks too. 'still get chills/goosebumps when I hear the original Dunes or Grand Cathedral theme and play those maps'

Recently fired up God of War collection for PS3, working through GoW 1, one of my favorite games of all time.

Also picked up DMC series on recent Steam sale. I haven't played DMC3 in forever, but that too was one of my favorite games of all time, at least in the genre it occupies.

For my strategy fix, I have been playing Beyond All Reason, the recent graphics updates now make this game load my system nearly as much as Ashes of the Singularity did, but IMHO, BAR looks better and plays better. Frankly for a free SpringRTS-based game, its fantastic.

Also playing the Broken Arrow demo during the Steam demo thing, and hell yes! I love it! Though it too loads my system very heavily, and it needs optimized. But, it plays like a more in-depth World in Conflict sorta, and I'm really liking what I'm experiencing so far...this was already on my shortlist of 2023 purchases...the demo just moved it to the top.

to be honest Serious sam 4 is my favourite of the lot, i quite liked the little bit of a story and help off your buddies lol , dont forget the ss4 *stand alone expansion" which is ok but quite short.

i kinda did them backwards, starting with SS4 and the Stand Alone SS4 exp, then went with SS1,2,3 , gonna be gutted when ive finished them all tho, as in what to play next.

I can't remember, was PS3 designed when tube tv's were still the main thing, or does PS3 still look good on LCD screens? I know PS2 looks infinitey better on a proper tube tv.

It only looks better because resolution was horribly low and 4:3 aspect - most tube TVs were 300x240, some later and higher-end ones used 640x480.
PS2 was "up to" 480p, with some very late games supporting up to 1080i (GT4 - but ran very bad running this res)

I see well that kinda explains it then.
I'm more of an oldschool SS player, familiar with the serie since the first games not even the HD editions.
Guess I got used to the typical Serious Sam who doesn't talk much other than dropping silly one liners here and there on his own.

4 kinda changed that in a way that felt out of place/character to me tho the gameplay itself was pretty good so I will give it another chance whenever.:)

If you enjoy such games then I can suggest Shadow Warrior, I mean the one from 2013 at least.

I am still taking a small detour before I start Legacy of the Void. Loaded up Battlefield 3 campaign, damn this game holds up well after all these years. Especially when at 1440p high refresh. Ultra is a cake walk to run on new hardware. Really fun, this will be my second time beating it. my cpu didn't break 60 celsius, and my gpu hotspot didn't even go over 74 celsius. and it looks better than some games i have seen that push temps way hotter than this.

It's crazy to me how unoptimized games are these days. Fuck this looks so good and is so buttery smooth.

is this an in-game graphics setting or how you are enhancing it in this way?
Usually has to be done inside nvidia profile inspector, but if you are using the TZFIX patch for the game, I think it might let you enable it inside that.

First of grab TZFIX anyway as it enhances shadow resolution, fixes stutters etc.

To enable SGSSAA manually do this.

Open nvidia profile inspector, and add a profile for tales of zestiria executable.

In antialising compatibility add this '0x084012C5'
Antialiasing mode set to override any application setting.
Antialiasing set to 4x multisampling.
Antialiasing transparency supersampling set to 4x sparse grid supersamping.
Finally set texture filter lod bias to -1.00 and negative lod bias to allow.

Click apply changes.

Playing The Witcher 3 for the first time in months. Last time I tried to play it, my PC blackscreened upon talking to a bard. Now, after I swapped out my PSU, I was able to play for an hour and a half straight without a single crash, hope it stays that way for ever. It sure makes my GPU hot though.

Playing it also makes me crave for some cold cheap booze, for some reason.

Edit: I got jumpscared by an apparent blackscreen in game, turns out to be just a cutscene transition in the middle of the Novigrad streets.
